| fussy puppy it's me again, with another question. I am starting the weaning process of my two babies (mom is helping) the boy doesn't really want to stop weaning off of mom. I can get the girl to eat the gruel, which I have no mixed with puppy food (good quality brand) she eats it up. The boy however will eat a little and then put his nose up in the air, and then whine until he can nurse off of mom. What can I do to get this little guy to eat? thank you

ok, thank you. I just felt so bad for him this morning, he kept whining and when I laid her down in the box he was going crazy trying to find milk. He eats a little bit of the food but I think your right, he does seem like a mama's boy. I will just keep offering it. The previous owners told me she stops nursing at 5 1/2 weeks, so we are getting close.

Also, I had to supplement him when he was born because he was so small so I have the puppy milk replacer and I am currently mixing some of that in their food as well. I do believe her milk is starting to diminish her teets do not seem as full as often plus she doesn't seem to want to feed them as often as she used too.

You said he's small and you had to supplement him, he's a bit behind in the whole process.....What type of milk replacer are you using? You might want to add a bit of Karo to the food, that is if you aren't already.

I have not tired the karo syrup, I thought I had read that someplace but I wasn't sure, I will try that. I am also wondering if he might be a bit constipated, it seemed like he had somewhat of a hard time pooping this morning. Another question...how long will mama lick the poop off of them and eat it? (yuck). I know they are going because I have seen them but when I look in their box their is never any poop.

1 12 oz can of evaporated milk 12 oz of distilled water 2 egg yolks 2 Tablespoons of Karo Syrup 2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Yogurt. 1 envelope of non flavored gelatin. Disolve the gelatin in heated microwaved water. Add evaporated milk, Karo, Yogurt and egg yolks well beaten. Refrigerate until chilled and firm....feed to pups and moms that are nursing. The Karo may help with his pooping problem. Mom will diaper a pup forever.....Oh, they'll go on their own, but you won't see poop around when mom is. It's an instinct, mother's keep the den clean. I have a girl that is 3 years old.....her mother still tries to diaper her.

This may be a silly question but is Soy yogurt ok? (I don't eat dairy) also, I read someplace that you should not give yorkies dairy, they could die from it or make them very, very sick.

| No, soy yogurt is not ok, it is a calcium leach. What you have read is incorrect. Cottage Cheese, Cheese, Yogurt, Goats Milk (the closest things to mother's milk) are fine. No, it doesn't make them sick.
