| AKC Litter Registration Can anybody please help me with this? i.e. what I have to do, costs, what information I will need to provide. I took in a pregnant Yorkie, (AKC registered) and I was told that I would need or could register her litter and I would like to do so but do not know the first thing about doing this. I did send in the paperwork needed to transfer ownership and I believe until that is completed I can not register the litter. Any information give would be much appreciated.

| You can register your litter online with AKC, but you will need both sire and dam's info as they both need to be AKC registered. |

Ok, I have that. I have paperwork that goes back 3 generations but only copies. When I sent in the paperwork for the transfer I requested 3 generations of original paperwork for AKC.

ok, great. My litter is 2. Also, is there some reading recommedations you may want to offer in regard to breeding. She comes from a very good background and am thinking about breeding. Not sure that I will breed Miracle again as she has already had four litters but her baby girl.

YT Addict | I will give you this heads up, AKC will not let you Reg. a litter unless you had the dog with you when she was being breed. You will need the mom's AKC papers and the info off that, and the dad's info. How owns the stud email. The best thing to do it call the lady you got the dog from ask the dates the dog was breed and you need to post a date before that as if you got the dog earlier that you did. So if the dog was breeded on June 10, you need the date on the paper work to say you got the dog May 30. This way by paper work you owned the dog when it was breed. If you don't do this the lady that breed the dog will have to Reg. the litter and then sign them over to you. It is alot of paper work and trouble. I know all this because I got a dog had her for about a month and then breed her to the lady that I bought the dog from's stud. I did not think any thing about it and later went to seen in the females paper work to put her in my name I couldn't remember the date I got the dog so I guessed and guess before the mating date. AKC would not let me Reg. the litter, I had to have the 1st owner reg. the litter and sign all the papers and seen it to me. So now her name is on that litter's papers as the breeder. I thought I would never get the papers. So make sure when you go to put her AKC papers in your name the transfer date is before the date of Mating. After you do this you will be able to go online at just the dams owner put in her info, and then the certificate issued date for the stud and stud's owners email. It is easy at that point. If you have the dates right. If you have any question PM me. I know this is alot of info if you have not breed with AKC before. Last edited by julietimothy; 07-15-2009 at 12:17 PM. |

YT Addict | I miss read, sorry it looks like you already sent in the paper work so you will not be able to Reg this litter in your name. You will need to contact the person that breed her and she will have to reg them, because by dates she saw the breeding and was the breeder at the time of mating. I would start trying to get this going very soon, it will take you much longer to get you papers. If you try to do it on line you will be waiting for papers for a week or 2 and then get a letter saying you was not the owner at the time of mating. So the best thing to do is call AKC and then the other owner. With out the help of the other owner you will never get papers. I am sorry, |

YT Addict | well I would call him today about it, don't wait. You will need to ask him to go online and Reg the litter. (you will need to seen him the money for the reg.) Akc will then send the paper work on the puppies to him and then he will need to sign them and mail them to you. Make sure you get his new contact info when he moves. Good luck, because after you ask him to reg. the little, all you can do is set and wait. (I would ask him to call you when he get the litter reg online and give you the reg. No.#. This way you can check in on it. |
