| Hi, we live live in Benicia too! I just had a liter about 2 weeks ago and I was told by the vet it should be done when they are between 3-5 days old. |

| I have good friends in Benicia! lol I thought it had to be done in the first couple days of life? Personally, if I had the choice, I'd want to have the full tail for my lil girl. I wish she still had hers, they're so pretty!

| It's generally recommended that docking be done at 3-5 days. I really think that by 5 days, you would have had ample time to have it done...even for an extremely small pup, 5 days seems like ample time. |

| 3-5 days is the normal recommended time. Don't do it any later than that. |

| I prefer to dock my puppy's tails on day 4. I had one litter many years ago done on day 7 but they were very tiny pups and they were done by a vet. |

| I have never bred an animal yet, cuz my budgie crushed her eggs by accident and has been laying infertile eggs ever since. She really wants to be a mommy but i think she is waaay too old at 10-13 years lol. Anyway im getting off subject but i have heard that the latest to dock their tails is 3 days, but everyone who knows what theyre doing with breedinghere says 3-5 days so yeah. |

Also getting off subject with this poster, I hope you are letting your budgie sit on her infertile eggs as it will help discourage her from laying too many? That is not good for her to keep laying eggs. |

| This is my first liter. I have the mom and dad and they are both AKC registered so the babies will be also. I have 3 boys and 1 girl. I am thinking about keeping the girl. They are 2 weeks old now and so cute! |
