| How long should stage 2 labor last From reading Debbie Jenson's site she seems to be in stage 2 labor. She's panting lightly and resting in between, licking herself and seems to be having mild contractions. She's pushs a little then she goes to sleep will get back up in 20-30 minutes and do it again. She doesn't seem to be in any kind of distress, its just taking so long. She's been acting this was since 8:45 a.m and it is now 3:15 p.m. She doesn't seem to be having any "hard" contractions, grunting and pushing (all signs of hard labor). When should she get to the hard labor stage? Right now she is asleep again.. Oh' and I did notice a little bit of blood come out of her vagina..

| When MInnie had her first litter, she had one pup right away, and second wouldn't come out for hours. We took her to the vet and they said the pup was stuck in the birth canal. They had to give her a shot to induce contractions. Then the last (2nd) come directly out. The Vet said she was losing interest because the pup wasn't coming out. I would suggest taking her to the vet asap. Please let us know what happens.

| Blood is NOT normal. When did her labor start? Labor can last from 12-16 hrs. I hope someone w/more experience will answer, cuz from what little I know...blood is NOT normal. I think you should call your vet right away!

| if I know for sure my dog i in labor and no signs of going forward for about two or three hours, I head to the vet. I woujld never let my dog be in labor all day no matter what stage it is. There is a reason the labor is not progressing. |

| Sadly the momma died having a emergency c-section. There were two pups, one was in the wrong position, it died and there is one surviving male pup they are trying to save. The OP posted all this in the breeder's section. So sad. |
