| Are you sure about her weight? I can't imagine a 8 oz 2 year old yorkie. That is how much some newborns weigh. First of all I would take her to a vet for a thorough checkup. She probably has some kind of underlying health problems that are causing her condition. We would love to see pictures of her. Best of luck with her. |

| She probably has black ear or it's called leather ear. It's caused by her ears being cold and you need to keep the ears warm by rubbing them, keeping her in a warmer room. Her hair probably won't grow back to any length but it's not life threatening. I have a couple of dogs that had it but I keep the ears room and try to keep them in a warmer area of the room. The sun really helps keep them from getting black ear and out of cold damp areas. I hope this helps and please get her to a vet to check her health from being so skinny Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

BANNED! | Wipe her ears with rubbing alcohol 2 x's a day for a week or 2. The hair can grow back. I had a male who had his ears over olied for the show ring and he had leather ear really bad. I did the alcohol for 2 weeks and each time I wiped his ears I got tons of black build up gunk off them. After 2 weeks of using the alcohol he now has alot of new hair growing on his ears. |

| Oh her hair looked completely normal just didn't grow back to the long flowing hair it once was. The black was completely gone as well. I think once they get it it's hard to grow the hair long back on the ears. Of course I love very long hair on the ears not just the base of the ears. Only thing I trim is the tips of course. |

| I have a pup who had black ears as you have described and it was due to a fungal infection. My vet recommended warm water and vinegar (50/50) applied three times/week and it cleared up nicely. I was amazed...he was a total mess when he came to me. If other things do not work, you might want to try it.

| She is really 8 ounces? I have never heard of an adult Yorkie that small. Thankful you have come to her aid. They do make prescription diet foods that are high calorie just for gaining weight. I think both Iams and Science Diet make them and the vet's offices usually carry them. I would definately keep the Nutri-cal on hand too! Nutri-cal is a high calorie supplement that can also stimulate the appetite. I would probably ask the vet about giving it daily or twice a day for a while to help. You might want to addd some goat's milk to her diet. It can help her gain weight and is easy to digest. I mixed it half/half with water for my puppies, but she might want a stronger mix to help gain quicker. Is she extra tiny built? In other words, is she really underweight, or is she just extremely tiny to begin with? I am sorry to ask so many questions, I am just extra curious as I have never heard of one this small. Hope you get to post pictures of her once you get her stable. Best wishes to you and your new ward!
