| What Can I Do? I am at a loss here. I had one of my first litters of Yorks in over a year and allowed the three of them to leave at 12 weeks of age. This was last week. Two of the pups are doing great with no issues. The third has been a 'problem' for his owner ever since she got him. He is/was the biggest in the litter, over 3 lbs when he left. He had never had any problems eating and was a happy and outgoing pup here. Immediately she contacted me the day she brought him home to say that he would not eat. I instructed her how to feed him (also discussed and in writing in his paperwork prior to sale). This included what to mix in his dry kibble and also a tube of Nutrical that she had purchased to supplement twice per day. The next day she contacted me again to say that he was still not eating. She also took him to the vet who did not note anything abnormal during his wellness exam. He did not receive any vaccines. I again instructed her what to do and asked her if she had spoken to her vet about her concerns. She did not answer me (this was via email). I assumed that the puppy was fine and did not hear from her yesterday. This morning I emailed her again to ask about his condition and she informed me that he is acting sleepy and will not lift his head, and also that she has been just feeding the dry kibble and nutrical. She did not try any of the things I suggested. I immediately attempted to call her with no answer so I replied to her email in capital letters. I explained that he is having a sugar drop and that if she could not bring him back out of it with the nutrical or syrup that she has available at her home that she should bring him to the vet immediately. I am extremely concerned about this puppy. What would cause a larger 3 lb, 12 week old pup to have a hypoglycemic episode when he never had any here. He was always the biggest and ate the best. The other two pups from the litter are having no issues with eating, and both were smaller. I understand that things can happen but I am concerned about the level of care the pup is receiving if this has been allowed to happen. This is not an extremely tiny puppy. I let him go with no worries. The lady seemed great and I had checked her references and spoken with her vet, there were no red flags. I have twice offered to take back the puppy or even take him back for a short amount of time until he is a bit older and can adjust more easily. I have been ignored both times. Do I have a right to be worried? Is there anything more I can do? I am afraid that next I will get a call that he has died. thanks for any advice kim

| Oh Kim, I can see where you would be concerned. Usually little dogs pretty much outgrow hypoglycemia by 12 weeks(especially with him being bigger). To me, it doesn't sound like she's working very hard with him. I know Tootsie was 5 1/2 mos and 1 1/2 lbs when I got her. Days she wouldn't take her treats in the morning, I would know she wasn't going to eat either, so, would get anything I could down her(her tummy would even growl). I wish you could get him back and find another owner, I'm sorry, but, she doesn't seem like she's doing all she should be with him. He shouldn't be having these problems |

Thank you, yes I am very concerned but I feel I have no leverage here because she is not wanting to give him up. I have to agree with you that something is not right. I have never had a puppy that is larger and at least 12 weeks of age have these kinds of problems. She asks for advice then will not take it. I do not want anything to happen to this poor puppy but at the same time I can't just barge into her house and grab him back because he is legally hers now. This is the one of the more difficult parts of breeding and one that buyers don't often see or understand.

| You make sure to keep all the e-mails she has written you and you have written her, just in case you need them |

YT 1000 Club Member | My suggestion to you would be to send her an email letting her know you are gonna come by and see if you can help her figure out what is wrong with him. Then go see her. I think if you are there showing her what she should be doing that she may get what you are telling her. I can't say whether you need to take the puppy back or not it all depends on what you see when you get there. You can read and do as much research as possible on the breed but sometimes you need hands on experience too. First time Moms sometimes have difficuties in the beginning when they bring their babies home from the hospital.

| Gosh, I am thinking maybe the pup missed his littermates and origional home, owner etc. and didn't eat because of that, but if the new owner is not doing what you asked and not available for you to talk to. I would be upset too! Can you call her Vet and ask what he may have seen when he had the pup there? |

| ~I pray your baby is okay. Please keep us posted on the outcome. If it were me, I would call and if she doesn't answer...leave a message saying you will come over on a particular day/time to see if you can figure out what is going on with the baby. Good Luck! |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | If the new owner is close enough, I would definitely show up on their door step to see what is going on. If she won't answer the phone, call the police and ask for a safety check-- maybe she is ill too and needs assistance for her and the puppy. Did she give her vet as a reference? I would call there too. |

| You poor thing! I would be a mess not knowing what is happening. I hope she contacts you soon with some kind of update. Hopefully she will do what you've suggested. Or at least take him to the vet.

| She is keeping the pup and he is finally doing better. Most of it was miscommunication but thank you all for helping to alleviate my worries.
