| When does a pregnant female dilate? I have been watching Kallie's temp since last night.. 7pm-98.7 8pm-98.9 9pm-98.4 10pm-99.2 8am- 97.9 I was told if she hasn't dilated then it would be a few more days but I read that when the temp gets as low as hers has been, then it will for sure be within 24 hours...I checked her and could only get one finger in to the knuckle.. I guess I will find out by 7pm tonight if this temp thing is accurate for my girl......I hate waiting..... |

| I wouldn't depend 100% on the temp. thing. It didin't work well for me and my dog hated being checked with a thermometer. I wouldn't "examine" her with your finger unless there is a problem. That does give a better chance for an infection by doing that. Just leave her be and you will know when she's going to whelp, I wouldn't leave her side though. My girl's water broke and within 5 minutes she was pushing. There was not any other signs to see except for knowing she was on day 63. Try not to mess with her on those ''checks'.

| I totally agree with Rosiegirl. You need to chill out and let momma relax. Do you know if the pups have dropped? Are you feeling lots of movement? She may still have several days to go so just relax. You will know when it is time. |

| Thanks everyone...I only checked her once but I used a steril glove. I do not plan on doing it again, but I was actually testing the temp thing to see if it is accurate for my girl... I have a close relative in the hospital with Luekemia and my father's birthday tomorrow and I am so afraid that I am going to miss something if I leave so I was hoping I would have some positive sign of how close she is so that I am home for sure... My husband is here but I am not sure that he will be able to handle it...Right now she will not leave my side but she is resting so I will just have to rearrange things so that I can stay home at all times until these babies get here....Thanks for everyone's help...I know I need to relax but I do not do good under pressure...lol.... |
