| Welcome to Yorkie Talk! -did you try to warm up some wet dog food. I would try maybe some eggs too, like scrambled..... Those phosphates (i think that's what they are called) can't be a good long term diet for a nursing momma. My girl has gotten really fussy in the last weeks of her pregnancy (we are on day 63) and I switched to warm wet food and she'll eat some of that. You should have her also eat some nutri-cal (supplement) so she gets some vitamins. Good luck, keep us posted. I am new at this breeding thing, so maybe a really experienced person will come by and give you some more advise (just so you know)

| I know nothing about breeding but I would be very concerned about the fat content in hot dogs and corn dogs. As you probably know already Yorkies are suseptable to pancreatitis and get is easily from eating fatty foods. You don't need a sick momma on your hands. What about home cooking and mixing it with kibble. Try boiled chicken breasts and some veggies. I hope you get her to eat soon. Congratultions with your litter of puppies, |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | A hot dog almost killed my first yorkie. He was almost 10 pounds and my kids gave him a hotdog. I found him face down in the dirt later with blood in his stool. The vet told me it was the hotdog.

I would definitely home-cook for her. Chicken breast, rice, fresh veggies. Or, at least buy her some high quality canned food. A retired show breeder I know, gave her Moms half & half. I would also call my Vet again and tell him she is not eating anything but junk food. | |

| You need to try and get her to eat something that is good for her. She also needs calcium, and you should try and get one tum down her a day, even if you have to chew it up and then give it to her. As Archie said all that fat can cause pancreatitis. Maybe one of the long time breeders on here will come along and tell you different things to try, but, I would def. get her off the hotdogs. Too much salt also isn't good for dogs, and those are loaded with sodium |

| Just adding another voice to say "get rid of the hot dogs!" That momma needs good nutrition now more than ever. The puppies are going to take all they can from her. Make sure she has only nutritious things to chose from. Home cooked chicken and brown rice is usually a winner when nothing else works. If she won't take any dairy product, you can add puppy milk replacement powder to her food or give her half of a Tum's everyday. That will keep her calcium up. A little Nutri-cal will keep her blood sugar up if she is just not eating enough. But only offer things that are good for her. She will eventually eat something. I can tell you from experience how quickly a new momma dog can go down. It is important to keep their energy up.
