I don't always experience an increase before decrease. It is possible that you missed the spike, depending on the time of day it spiked. I have always had pups within 24 hours of a temp drop that remained down. I would not leave her side. It sounds like puppies are VERY near.

Ellie had days where her temp would rise, drop, rise, drop and then rise again. It about drove me and her both crazy. Ellie didn't drop her temp the day that she whelped. The temp can also increase as soon as it goes down so it could be that you missed it. She didn't start digging and nesting and breathing hard until 15 minutes before she had the first puppy. It went rather quick for her. Just hang in there and don't stare at her. That could make her delay her delivery.

She's probably getting ready. Ellie laid down all day and could tell that she didn't feel good. She went into labor that night. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Just remember, don't hover because she can actually delay her own labor. She may be waiting for it to get quite and dark too.

Glad to hear that everything is okay. She will probably make it and the puppies will be fine. I know the waiting part is harder on the owners than it is on the dog. I pray that your whelping goes well.

day 62 still no puppies temp as been 37.3 for 24 hours, remains eating and energetic all of a sudden, no loss of mucus plug, seems happy. if it gets to day 65 and still no puppies would you contact vet, how far do you let them go over. No signs of milk yet according to deb jennsons web site should be seeing some now is that not always the case? thanks
