| Wanting to breed my yorkie Penny. Hello. My wife and I have a 3.5 pound little yorkie. We would like to breed her but are having a difficult time finding a suitable male. Anyone have some suggestions? Does anyone have any links to sites that could help us? We are in the Des Moines, IA area. Thanks to all. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. You do realize that a 3.5 pound little female should never be bred, right? She is way too small...you would risk losing her if she had puppies and at the very least she may need a c-section which would be extremely painful and you could lose her from that. If she were mine I wouldn't want to take the chance. |

| I suggest researching on this site for more information. She is way too small. My female was 4.9 and my male was 2.9 and they produced large pups. You could be risking your females life...Good Luck |

| Ditto what others have said. You should not breed a female Yorkie of that size, unless you want to risk her life!

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I also ditto what the others said, my Kalani was right under 5 lb and my little guy somehow slipped out of his wrap and she had to have a c section. I would have died had something happened to her. I spayed her and nuetered him. If you love her, please dont risk her health, especially if you dont know the past 5 or 6 generations of size of mom and dad. Ive learned so much the hard way, please do better, you have people giving good advise. |

| IF you decide that the risk of breeding such a tiny female is worth it, please take your female to shows and have her evaluated. There are TOO MANY people breeding yorkies that do not fit the breed standard. Breeders should breed to better the breed, not because they think it would be "fun." Considering you do feel the risks are worth taking, you need to get a bile acids test, her knees/hip examined and certified as well as other tests which are ONLY a precaution, not a guarantee. You certainly don't want to be breeding for liver shunt, luxating patellas or Leggs-Perthe disease (among others).

I am hoping this post is a joke since it is the only one you have made. if not and you are truly looking for help (not someone to tell you to breed your girl, then welcome to YT and hopefully you will learn here. | My yorkie is 3.5 lbs and I couldn't imagine breeding her ever. As cute as her pups could be, 3.5 pounds is just too small!!! have you looked at your females tiny belly, how could ANY pups fit in there, this could possibly KILL her AND the puppies. Please think about this some more, it seems that you have no knowledge about breeding. |

| First off, welcome to YT. This is a great site for information and sharing stories about out little ones. Females should be a minimum of 5 pounds before they should be bred. Even then, there are lots of other factors to consider. These are issues that you should be well versed on IF you have taken the time to educate yourself on breeding. If you truly want to breed, please research first. Find a breed mentor and take you time selecting quality breeding stock and a LARGER female that could safely carry and whelp a litter. There is a lot to learn before you ever really get started IF you want to be an ethical breeder with the best interest of your dogs in mind. I'm sorry to say, but your female would not be a good candidate for breeding. Best to spay her and spoil her and enjoy her as the pampered princess I'm sure she already is. Breeding her would only put her life at risk. |

| I know this answers the OP's question, but the bigger concern is that this little girl shouldn't be bred...
