| Heart Worm tx. and breeding Bitches Phoebe is in her third heat, got Taz and now am expecting minnie me's from her. Vet gave her Heart worm meds and I was not there to question, my husband believes ANYTHING someone with MD says. I read on another site that there should be no shots and no worm tx during gestation. Confused by the vet office saying to give it? Any info out there for me?

| It depends on the medication--I know interceptor is safe, and I am sure heartgard is. I would continue to give it--it's a preventative, it would really suck to have the puppies and then 6 months later have her diagnosed with heartworms. Even when you do treatment, it's very expensive and the damage that's done to the heart is always going to be there. Good luck with the puppies. |

| I don't breed, but if I did, I would most definitely continue to give heartworm preventatives.

| Mine are also on Interceptor. And Halle took it while pregnant and everything is fine with her and her babies whom are now 4 months old and doing GREAT!!! I called the vet and asked if I could still give it to her while she was nursing and they said yes. |
