| Breeders / Training I wonder if anyone can tell me if breeders usually start training (potty or simple commands) puppies before they sell them as they usually hold them until they are around 12 weeks old. Also does anyone know a good breeder in Illinois? |

| Good Morning! I came across this website that has a whole bunch of info on beginner's potty training. I am definitely trying this myself when my Rosie whelp's. Check it out and see if it is for you.... Puppies at 3 to 3½ weeks - Time to start potty training If you go to the bottom of this series of pages available on training there is another link to a page that discusses why the toy breeds are harder to train and that is one more thing I would definitely read. |

| Fortunately, I have never even had to try potty training for my puppies before they leave at 12 weeks. They learn it from their mama and my pups are almost 100 percent pee pad trained when they leave. |

| I train my pups to use the piddle pads because my adults do their business outdoors.I think most breeders probably don't train.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I train the puppies to the pee pads starting as soon as they are on their feet. Some litters actually start to use the doggie door--depends on time of year and how big the puppies are. |
