| nyc/ long island Hi, I want to buy a small yorkie (abt 4-5 pounds). I don't care as much about the gender as I do about personality - I would prefer a tamer dog, but this is for a pet, not for breeding or shows or anything like that. I am on this site because I have read all the possible horror stories of buying from a store (or rather a store fronted puppy mill) and from "breeders" who also sponser these puppy mills. I was wondering if anyone on this site can recommend a breeder in the new york city/ long island (or new jersey) area. In case anyone is hesitant to recommend to me, I am a law student and so is my husband, so we are not away all day in class (most of our studying is done at home). We have an apartment, but there would be plenty of room for our new baby. (I have always wanted a yorkie since I was a kid, but my mother is allergic and wouldn't let me have one.) Since we are students, and newly weds, we do have a budget, but I am also realistic, so reasonable prices are always appreciated. I would obviously much rather have a healthy dog. Anyway, any recommendations or past experiences with "breeders" to avoid is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help! Nicole |
