| too young to leave mother? I am looking at this adorable little yorkie boy for sale, born 11/14/2008. I thought that it should be 4 months before yorkie puppies are sold, however? 2 months seems kind of young! what is the general age that a breeder should hold a puppy for before it's ready for sale?

| I believe it should be at least 12 weeks. That is about the age I purchased each of my babies. If they are not very big in size, may not be gave to their new homes until longer than 12 weeks. Maybe someone with more experience could give you more advice though. |

| 12 weeks is the absolute earliest I will let any of my puppies go. I also want them to be atleast 2lbs. So however long it takes to reach that, then I just keep them with me. By my calculations, that puppy will be 12 weeks old on Friday.

| 10-12 weeks is when I let mine go. You count the days not the weeks, and that will make 12 weeks old this Friday. You want the puppy to have time to mature, have social skills and be completely weaned from the mother. Good Luck!!! |

| I agree with the majority! Definitely no sooner than 12 weeks. That time between 8-12 weeks is so beneficial for them to be with their mom and siblings. They develop and mature so much in that time frame. Good luck!

| I too agree with the majority. I know that with mine, turning 8 weeks Friday, that they are a long way from being ready to leave their mama. When I took them in for their 1st shots & worming, my vet's assistant was inquiring on how soon they would be available as she wanted one. When I replied not for another 8-10 weeks, they were both shocked. I said that though I had the kennel & play yard in my livingroom & lots of playtime with them running around the house & playing with my dgd, dh & myself, and they are eating dry food, that they are no where near old enough to leave. Heck, I'm still piddle pad training them
