| 3lb. Yorkie very pregnant...HELP! Hi! I got a rescue Yorkie about 8 weeks ago. She is only 3lb. and when I got her she was in her last couple days of heat. She wouldn't let my male anywhere near her (thankfully) and they never tied. Now i noticed today her belly is HUGE. I thought she was gaining weight because she is finally being fed well. But i am quite certain she is pregnant. When I got her the lady had her in a small cage with a 4lb. male yorkie. I am guessing he got to her. So if she was bred before I got her she would probably be on day...um 58? 59? so only a few days to go if I am right. I am going to schedule x-rays with my vet when they open monday. (they are closed sunday). oy...she is just so tiny. have any of you had 3lb. yorkies deliver fine? i am glad the male is pretty much the same size as her,but still. And she only has 1 1/2 back legs. The lady i got them from wouldn't tell me what happened to her,but i was told it looks like it got caught in a cage and ripped off. She came from a very abusive home that kept her outside in the cold all day in a 4x4' with 4 other dogs. I have found a home for the "supposed" daddy, but i had decided to keep Little Girl...i am so worried she won't be able to deliver the pups...what do you think? can't stop worrying and don't want to wait until monday to find out! |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Such a Sad Sad story for this little girl! I pray that you contact an emergency Vet right away if you are this concerned. In the meantime, hoping someone with experience will advise you as well here. She has been through so much, I hope she will be able to endure this. Please get her some help! Pls update on her condition!

| First of all, blessing for adopting this little girl. Don't blame you for being worried. Kind of a surprise. Sounds like you don't have much time getting yourself educated for a birth. I wish your tiny one a safe birth process and that the babies are healthy. Hugs. Joanne

| thanks. if i thought she was in any immediate danger i would certainly take her to the emergency vet right away. she is still running around and eating fine and everything...but i have a gut feeling she will have them in the next week. my 7-8lb. yorkie had puppies and did great, but a 3lb. yorkie is so much smaller and I don't have any experience with such tiny ones i love her death and am hoping she will be fine. |

| Aww That poor little girl. Please make sure some one is there with her 24/7 and not to let your other pets around her. I would get her in to the vet asap and see what they say about it. good luck. hope she does well. |

| I would take her to the vet. She may require a c-section to have the puppies. If so, at least you and your vet will be prepared when the time comes.

| I have seen a couple of small mothers deliver without major trouble so it's certainly possible. You will want to keep her away from stairs, protect her from any rough play, generally anything that might put undue pressure on her abdomen. One of the dangers is that she can rupture internal organs like the bladder. This can lead to sepsis and .... I would also consider scheduling a c-section. She is going to need to be spayed anyway and this might be the right time for that, your vet can help you decide. Now is the time to get your puppy kit ready too! Your going to have that new puppy smell before long. Good Luck!

| Oh my word!!....I'm so glad this precious little one found your home...It sounds like your doing the best you can under the circumstances....Keep us posted on her condition and at least you where paying enough attention to have noticed her tummy getting bigger so if she is pregnant you'll be prepared for it...That is a blessing for her...Good luck and I wish you both the best....

| I have seen 5 and 6 lb(which is still very small) yorkies that have died giving birth. I feel so bad for that baby. I know it's not your fault, but, it makes me sick that someone would intentionally let 2 little dogs like that breed. I would def. get her to the vets tomorrow morning. Most likely, if she is, she will have to have a c-section. I just pray the mother makes it |
