| Just Curious...how many times do you breed your dog? Im just curious...at what age do breeders stop breeding their yorkies? 3 litters max or do they breed them more than that? Thanks! ;-) |

| You should make sure she has first litter before she is 3yrs old!! and she should be in retirement by the age of 5yrs!! depending on how she whelps on her previous litters, and how fit and healthy she is. it would be entirely up to you!! Love WendyX Lulu And Fifi |

| There are no pat answers to this question. The answer will be directly affected by the purpose for breeding the mother in the beginning. If she's in a show breeding program she can't have a proper "breeding value" evaluation until she has produced at least two litters with two seperate and unrelated males. This would make the third breeding the first breeding that wasn't actually a "test" breeding. If she produced the exact puppy desired she may be retired but that would be throwing away a lot of investment and record keeping. On the other hand if she didn't produce great puppies in the first two litters she may be retired without a third breeding.

| I breed mine twice and than retire (about 4 yrs old), but thats just me personally. I do know other breeders that will breed at least 3 times and retire at 5 - 6 yrs old. Mine are all pets, after retirement they get spayed. I feel anymore than that is just too much for their bodies. In my own opinion!!! |
