Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I am on the road to be puppy granny... To start I will say that my son rescued Taffy from a HORRIBLE place, she was going to be put to sleep because she has a little problem in one knee which we were hoping to correct this month, well is not going to happen because Taffy might be with puppies...   when we got her my son ASKED and they say yes she is spayed, here's the paper work.. pictures below.. well so we beleived too... theh I noticed a few droplets of blood in my kitchen floor but since my son does not bring her up every day, I cleaned it and check on Prada,Chanel and Harry for a cut or something but found nothing, so I just forgot about it. Well, Mr. Harry boy kept on going down stairs every time the door was let a bit open and I thought how cute, harry likes going to see Taffy when Owen leaves the door open..  Taffy can't come up the stairs because her knee.. well... after a dau or so Owen came up and told me that Taffy was in heat and not to let Harry go down, that he was going to get TAffy to the clinic the next day but he was almost sure she was in heat and oh, well, I told him about Harry's escapades and    well he thinks that this two did the puppy business and now we have to wait and see... do you guys beleive that... she was supposed to be fixed... and now I might be in the road to puppy granny... oh well is nothing we can do but wait.. we don't know what to call the pups if she is pregnant, she is a jack russell terrier and harry is a yorkie. "Jackshiers"??? LOL, no my son thinks she is due sometime in the begining of january.. I am so nervous, I never had puppies born in my house before.. hugs, CArmen in nj http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...cture029-5.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...cture028-3.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...cture027-4.jpg Taffy the way she looks today.. 12/16/08 http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture017.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture019.jpg Last edited by carmen in nj; 12-16-2008 at 08:43 AM. |

| I am so sorry this happened to this poor little dog. For her to be due the beginning of January this incident must have happened a while back and not recently. It would have been best to have her spayed just as soon as she went out of heat. If she has bad knees then carrying a litter of puppies could do more damage plus the fact there is a good chance you will be bringing puppies into this world that could very well have a genetic defect. Normally I do not advise spaying a bitch when they are pregnant but in this case it might be the best thing. You might want to discuss it with your vet. I do pray that whatever happens the momma is safe and that everything goes well. Please keep us posted. |

| Awwww, I just looked at her picture and she definitely looks pregnant. She looks like a sweet little girl. I guess since she is so far along you will just have to cross your fingers and pray for the best. I hope you read up on whelping so you can help her. Last edited by bjh; 12-16-2008 at 09:03 AM. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes this happend back in the begining of november, we had no idea since we were assured she was spayed. we took her to the vet and he said it would be safe for her to carry the pups this last time the problem with her knee is not an emergency and not genetic, and she will be spayed and her knee fix as soon as she is done with this babies. I was not a member here when this happen so I am just posting now, because I just joined..my son is a vet tech so beleive me she will have the BEST care she can get.. hugs, cArmen in nj |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | thank you, yes she is and my son LOVES her so much.. since he's been back home from the marines he wanted a little dog of his own but one that was rescued so last september we went to a couple of shelters but nothing and then just when we were going home we saw this sign for a pet adoption and we stoped and it was an instant bond, they did tell us about the knee and we knew we could take care of that, the surprise was that they told us she was spayed and she wound up not.. but we will fix her after the puppies.. hugs, carmen in nj |

| Vets can look at dogs and tell if they've been spayed/neutered. Was she not ever checked to make sure she was fixed? I agree with BJ, having the extra weight on her leg is not good for her at all, it can mess it up more than it already is. |
