Omg I am on the road to be puppy granny...

To start I will say that my son rescued Taffy from a HORRIBLE place, she was going to be put to sleep because she has a little problem in one knee which we were hoping to correct this month, well is not going to happen because Taffy might be with puppies...
   when we got her my son ASKED and they say yes she is spayed, here's the paper work.. pictures below.. well so we beleived too... theh I noticed a few droplets of blood in my kitchen floor but since my son does not bring her up every day, I cleaned it and check on Prada,Chanel and Harry for a cut or something but found nothing, so I just forgot about it. Well, Mr. Harry boy kept on going down stairs every time the door was let a bit open and I thought how cute, harry likes going to see Taffy when Owen leaves the door open..  Taffy can't come up the stairs because her knee.. well... after a dau or so Owen came up and told me that Taffy was in heat and not to let Harry go down, that he was going to get TAffy to the clinic the next day but he was almost sure she was in heat and oh, well, I told him about Harry's escapades and    well he thinks that this two did the puppy business and now we have to wait and see...
do you guys beleive that... she was supposed to be fixed... and now I might be in the road to puppy granny... oh well is nothing we can do but wait.. we don't know what to call the pups if she is pregnant, she is a jack russell terrier and harry is a yorkie. "Jackshiers"??? LOL, no my son thinks she is due sometime in the begining of january.. I am so nervous, I never had puppies born in my house before..

I am so sorry this happened to this poor little dog. For her to be due the beginning of January this incident must have happened a while back and not recently. It would have been best to have her spayed just as soon as she went out of heat. If she has bad knees then carrying a litter of puppies could do more damage plus the fact there is a good chance you will be bringing puppies into this world that could very well have a genetic defect. Normally I do not advise spaying a bitch when they are pregnant but in this case it might be the best thing. You might want to discuss it with your vet. I do pray that whatever happens the momma is safe and that everything goes well. Please keep us posted.

Awwww, I just looked at her picture and she definitely looks pregnant. She looks like a sweet little girl. I guess since she is so far along you will just have to cross your fingers and pray for the best. I hope you read up on whelping so you can help her.

thank you, yes she is and my son LOVES her so much.. since he's been back home from the marines he wanted a little dog of his own but one that was rescued so last september we went to a couple of shelters but nothing and then just when we were going home we saw this sign for a pet adoption and we stoped and it was an instant bond, they did tell us about the knee and we knew we could take care of that, the surprise was that they told us she was spayed and she wound up not..
but we will fix her after the puppies..

I truly understand. I know you want what is best for your baby. I am glad you have talked to the vet about her and that he is advising you. Do you have any recourse with the people your son got her from? I sure would be making some waves about them and if I were you I would try to get some money from them to cover her spay. I have heard of this happening to other people where they were told their dog was spayed when it was not. I don't understand why people can't just be honest. I do hope you keep us posted on how things go. If you need any advise on whelping or puppy rearing then we will be here for you. Hugs.

Vets can look at dogs and tell if they've been spayed/neutered. Was she not ever checked to make sure she was fixed? I agree with BJ, having the extra weight on her leg is not good for her at all, it can mess it up more than it already is.

thank you, we beleived them and YES, she was check by a VET the following monday after he got her, he call his brother and made an appt. and took he we knew that she was in need of a rabies shot they told us that, so he took her and all her paper work which I posted pictures of above to the DR. and HE checked her and gave her the shot,so we could go on to license her in our town. Beleive me the last thing we wanted was for this girl to get pregnant, but things happen that were beyond our control, specially when you are told she was fixed and you find the hard way she is NOT.
I posted looking for help, so please we feel bad enogh..My son the vet tech lives a couple of minutes from us, so hopefully she will have an easy labor and we will put this behind us, at due time, I think I have more than enogh homes in line for this babies, and I know they will have happy lives and their mommy too..

WEll he look at her and gave her the shot and checked her leg and that was it, I don't see why we had to questioned her papers of he would had to, the paper work stated very clear that she was supposed to be spayed. in their rules said that no dog is adopted out without being spayed or neutered first. But since they are a shelter I don't know what we can do.
that is all.. thank you for your opinion.

I would contact the shelter. If someone is ripping them off and claiming to spay dogs when they are not then someone needs to know. Unless the dog was free, you paid for a spayed dog and I feel they should pay to have her spayed when the time comes.

I did contact the shelter a few days after my older son came home and verified that she was in heat, and spoke to the director or person in charge and he told me that he would look into the situation but since we had an intact male in the house we were partly responsible and that if we brought the dog back to the shelter they would be glad to refund our $100.00 adoption fee.. Are you kidding I told him, we already LOVE her and we will keep her and the babies, all we wanted was for you to know and ask if you would help with the expenses of having her spayed, and he said NO .
so we will pay for everything, and we WILL NEVER deal with that specific shelter again.
