Vac. schudule for puppies? Hello to all, I am new at this so please bear with me. I have been a member of this forum for awhile. I enjoy getting on and following the progress of Yorkies getting ready to or have already had her babies....lots of fun. Anyway, I thought this might be a good place to have my question addressed by Yorkies breeders that have lots more experience than me. Here goes: I was wondering what your thoughs are about when to give puppies their shots, like 3 weeks, 6 weeks etc... I have 2 female's, Chanel and Miley. Chanel is on day 52. Looking so forward to the birth...we love puppies. Miley is Chanel's daughter and we just bread her 2 weeks ago....still waiting to she if she took. This will be Chanel's third litter, so I thought I would try to get other opinions on the vacination schudule. I always have doubts when it is time to give shots...any advice would be welcome. Thanks, Jackie

According to the vaccine protocol it does little good and more harm to vaccinate a puppy before 8 weeks. 8 weeks is when I start and some people give every three weeks after that until the 16 week shot. I just do 8 , 12 and one more at 16 weeks. Then they are ready for their new homes if we are not keeping them for show.

I don't start vaccinations on mine until they are at least 10 weeks old and then I give distemper and parvo only. With the very small puppies I have heard that it is best to wait until they are at least 1 1/2 to 2 lbs before giving the first shot.
