| puppies It's been a heck of a day. Ciara started into labor in the middle of the night. She was throwing up this morning. At about 3 PM a puppy started to be born. She opened the bag, but only the head came out. 30 minutes later we were at the vet. It took 15 minutes with me holding her still and the vet working at it to deliver that one puppy. She weighed 6 oz. Neither of my girls has every had a puppy that big. Usually they're right around 4 oz. The puppy started breathing as soon as she was all the way out. I was happy about that, because I thought she was dead when Ciara was running around the house with a puppy head hanging out her back end. The vet gave her a shot of oxytocin and sent us home. She delivered to more puppies on the way home. A boy weighing 1.9 oz that was dead by the time we got home and another girl that was still attached when we got home and ended up a healthy 5.8 oz. I think there's another one, but Ciara seems to be resting. I called the vet, because I thought the oxytocin was supposed to empty her uterus. They tell me it could be a while and she still may need to go back to the vet, because if the puppy was up to high the oxytocin could have sealed off the uterus? The vet closes at 7 PM. I told them I'd be there by 6:30 if she hadn't delivered it by then. |

| What a terrible ordeal for you, Mom and babies. The stress level must have been off the charts! I can't imagine a vet sending you home with a female in active labor. I'm so sorry to hear of your little boy. Thank goodness it's all over now. Hopefully you can get Mom and the babies settled in. Congratulations on your 3 little ones. Get some rest when you can; you must be totally frazzled. |

| Congratulations! Three nice healthy sized babies. Sorry you lost the little boy... (he probably didn't have enough room to grow or was a preemie). Best of luck! Looking forward to seeing pictures.

I Love My Babies Donating Member | What a night you had. Hugs to you and congratulations on your healthy babies. Sorry you lost the little guy. You did the right thing in rushing her to the vet when you did. Can't wait to see the pictures.
