Default Tayla's Angels Have Arrived

I lost my first pup this morning. I've safely delivered 27 but this little guy didn't make it. I'm heart sick about it. At 5 oz. he was just so big for her and was stuck with just his head out for too long. I tried everything but he never took his first breath. I've been up since 3:30 yesterday morning and feel so depleted at the moment that I wonder why I do this. We do have 2 beautiful babies, a male weighing in at 3.2 oz. and a female 3.4 oz. Pups are nursing and Mom is diong well.

Tami, I am so very sorry for the loss of the first pup, I imagine it must be so very hard. I know you must be very tired and a bit sad, but just look at Tayla and her pups

Tami,
So sorry for your loss. I lost one boy once also. I worked on him for almost 50 minutes after we got him out. He just looked so perfect in every way and I just could not believe he could not be revived. It takes alot out of you. In fact we just visited the graves of some of our animals in the woods yesterday. Little "Buddy" is out there. The kids named him Buddy because I kept saying to him "come on little buddy you can do it". It takes alot out of you. But I told myself then and every time I cry when a puppy goes to its new home, that the day it doesn't break your heart to lose a puppy or bring tears to let them go is the day I will no longer do it!! So hugs and keep on doing what you do best!! Breeding beautiful dogs!

Congratulations Tami!...I am sorry about your puppy you lost...It is a very hard time when this happens...I have asked myself that same question "why?" many times over the years...Get some well deserved rest and hugs to you!

Aww Tami I am so sorry! No matter how prepared we think we may be for this because we know if we do this long enough we will see heartbreak...our heart still shatters into a million pieces. We would be lying if we did not start dreaming of these babies even before they are conceived so to lose one of those precious little ones is just so hard.

I remember when I saw my first one die, I thought I would die along with him. Luckily his mom still needed help getting his brother and sister out so we had to regroup and kept going.

I guess we keep doing this because even after the terrible loses and all the stress we gain more in our hearts than we lose. I know you will always remember him and it is ok to be sad, just try to find some comfort in the two little miracles you have.

Tayla is beautiful and I am sure her angels will grow up to do you very proud.

Thank you, all of you, for being so kind. It was too wet to bury him this morning so I went to work for a while and just buried him. It's so weird, even though I know he didn't make it I just had to look one more time to be sure before I put him in the ground. Tayla is the smallest bitch that I have bred and though she's strong and passed evaluation by three breeders a 5 oz. pup was almost too big for her. I do hope that all of those pet owners who are thinking of breeding their little gals will reconsider. I don't know if I will breed Tayla again at this point. She's from Brazil and has the exact coat quality that I want to breed. I won't sacrifice her to my goals so at this moment I just don't know. Besides she cries when she pushes and it just tears me up!

Tami, I know this is hard on you. I have had some mommas cry too when giving birth and they were 6 and 7 lb girls. Getting that first puppy out when it is their first litter its always the hardest. Most likely she will do fine on her next litter but it is always scary no matter what their size is. She is a beautiful girl. Who is the sire of these babies?

You said this so well.

I feel so sad when I hear of someone loosing a pup because I know just how much you all care about each and every one of them. I know it must take a little piece of your heart each time you loose or let one go - but I know that you realize just how much happiness you bring to all the rest of us when we get one of the ones that has survived. Thank You for never giving up - and Thank You for always giving us a little piece of you.
