| Have you talked to the breeder you got her from? Maybe an acceptable agreement can be made about another puppy.(maybe the second one will not be as expensive, etc) Did she know you wanted to breed her? 72 hours is not much of a contract if you are buying breeding stock.

| At the very least, she should give you back the extra money you paid for the breeding rights. If you want another pup, however, she will probably ask you to return the one you have so she can be resold.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | A murmur graded at 6 is a congential defect. The breeding pair also need to be spay/neutered along with any siblings from the litter. Was there no written health guarantee beyond a 72 hours? Without that you likely have no recourse. Not knocking your breeder...but being licensed doesn't necessarily make you a reputable breeder. Best wishes for puppy...

| I am very sorry that you have such a sick puppy, a grade 6 heart murmur is a serious problem. The breeder should at the very least not breed the parents together again and offer a replacement of the puppy, or the option to purchase another puppy from a different litter at a discounted price. I think people also need to realize that not every breeder that would take back a sick puppy would resell the puppy. I would happily take this puppy back whether for pet or show and replace it with a healthy puppy at no charge. I would keep the dog here with me and make sure she received the care she needed, I would definately not resell the puppy or euthanize the puppy as some also like to believe all breeders will do. However I also never would have sold a puppy with a heart murmur in the first place, since our puppies are listened to several times before they leave by our vet. And I would never have sold such a young puppy with full registration. My best advice for your next addition to your breeding program is to get a solid written contract with a health guarantee of at least a year. Also I would not recommend purchasing a puppy for show or breeding before 6 months old. I hope your little girl will be ok and that she can live a long, happy life.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | A kennel licensee means nothing in regards to getting a good dog, it just means that that this particular person sells so many dogs that the USDA requires her to get a license. The United States Department of Agriculture requires licenses by people who sell over a certain number of dogs a year, they only have to follow the rules listed for all livestock, which as you probably know are not necessarily humane.

| I'm sorry you are going through this. Its great that you are taking her to see a cardiologist. They can tell you exactly what the problem is. My Lilly had a 5/6 murmur, turned out to be PDA. I had her surgery scheduled and the night after surgery she passed away. It was very devastating to me. The procedure is very sucessful though...there is a YT member here that had the same surgery done on her baby and he's fine..will live a normal happy life. Not sure what happened with Lilly....I just say that God needed her. I'll be praying for her. Please keep us posted. |
