| if you have a big syriinge, make the mush real thin and syringe feed them. What do you put in your mush? I use baby ceral, puppy supplement and a few drops of karo syrup. How old are the babies now? What are you doing for the mastitis? hopefully she is on warm compresses several times a day nad antibotics. my vet has told me to let the pups nurse the teat that has the mastitis in it. I have done that and in a days time, the teat is soft again. |

| Wanted to post to let you know that you aren't alone. How old are the pups? I'm not sure exactly how much formula they should be eating but the following thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ft-behind.html has some really good info - pay close attention to Post #5 . Please be careful with the hurricane coming - as much as possible check in and let us know you and the babies are ok. |

| If the milk has puss or blood in it do not let them feed off of those teats! Do a search on supplimenting, there is a chart around here somewhere.

| Feeding HI....thanks for your responses....the puppies are 3 weeks old. I have suppliment and baby oatmeal cereal and caro...I will add it to feed them. They weigh between 6 to 12 oz. Jolie' is on Baytril and rhmadril...sorry for misspelling. We do the compresses. The vet says not to let them feed because she needs to dry up and if they feed on her she will continue to produce milk.

| Put mom in a onesie and let her keep them warm and take care of them. They should be eliminating by themselves by now and able to generate their own body heat as their shiver reflex will have kicked in by now.

| Hmm my vet said that if the teats have pus or blood DO NOT put them to nurse. My dog had Mastitis but the discharge was just milk and not pus so the vet said to continue to express milk from those teats and also have thepups suckle to help with the swelling. Her breast glands were getting hard and lumpy like cottage cheese and it looked purple almost... I put puppy kibble in a processor until it was powder.I also put canned puppy food in a processor and added some water until it looked like a shake. I mixed both powdered kibble and liquid canned puppy food, added a little more water and syringe fed mine. Also try to alternate with puppy formula. I prefer the powdered milk because you only make what you need instead of having to throw out milk before it spoils. Good luck. I'll have you in my prayers. We are in Florida so I have experienced my share of hurricanes Genie |

No Longer a Member | I fed mine with a regular baby bottle nipple, the one the vet gave me they would not take it was to small. Mine did great on a regular baby bottle and goats milk. I fed mine every 3 hrs and let them drink till they were full never had any problems. Pups turned out very healthy and strong. |
