Is there a way to get a pedigree for my babies with more than 3 generation? if so where and how? thanks

You can go to akc.org to the 'store" section and request a research pedigree. I think they charge you eight or ten dollars but it is so worth it.

Maybe there's a more direct method than what I'm going to suggest...but I do know...you can research an AKC pedigree on line for $15. So if you took...the third generation..that would allow you to go further back. I'm not certain how far that would be though. Meaning if that would be three generations or simply the sire and dam.

so would i be able to go back further than the great parents or do i have to do it from the all eight of the great grand parents? if so would that mean i have to pay $15 per great-grandparent?

I use AKC 5 generation research pedigrees all the time. Just remember that after you get it from AKC then you need to copy and save it to your hard drive. Theses pedigrees are great for sharing with others because you can just email them as an attachment. It can be a little tricky reading them though if you are not familiar with pedigrees.

so do you go off of your babies registration number? i have seen some breeder with generation after generation of pedigree for the baby...how far back can you go? i would like to research MeiLing background...since she has so many champion in her background...hehe...i mean i have copies of what her breeder gave me for her sire and dam...but i would like to see more...hehe

Yes, when I get a research pedigree I just used the AKC number of the dog I am researching. Going back 5 generations is sufficient but I know it is fun to go back further sometimes. Often you can go to other breeders websites and pull up pedigrees on some of the older dogs in your dogs pedigree if they were champions. If you just have a 3 generation pedigree then a 5 generation pedigree will give you a lot more information.

all i got was the regular 3 generation pedigree when i registered all my dogs...i think that was all they offered on the paper...but i would like more generation back hehe..

so should i just do MeiLing's 5 generation? or should i use her great grand parents on her sire side? since his side is where all the champion resides hehe.

I think for start I would just order a 5 generation pedigree on MeiLing because if you ever do breed her you will have that pedigree to share with others if they want it. I always print out a copy and also keep it on my hard drive. You might also contact her breeder, she may already have some research pedigrees on some of the dogs in MeiLing's pedigree that she could share with you.

she had given me copies off all the pedigrees she had on the sire and dam....hehe

i guess will just do MeiLing hehe...thanks

I've used a pedigree service to get a 7 generation pedigree for some of my dogs. I used Brewster Pedigrees of Maricopa , AZ. Seems like it was $30 for 7 generations. There are several listed in every issue of Dog Fancy in the classified ads. They were very prompt...very good service.

I used Brewster many times for a 7 gen...professional and prompt. I have a few 10 gen peds..but the guy retired.
