| I was told they can go clear out to 70 days, as it depends on when the bitch actually ovulates. Semen can survive up to 5 days after initial ejaculation. Good Luck, she should be just fine, have you been tracking her temp? hmmm, suddenly feel almost like blushing...lol

| Sperm can survive for 5-7 days. 63 days is from ovulation, not breeding dates. She may have been bred several days before she ovulated (can be up to 5 days before ovulation), then she ovulated (thus begins the 63 day count) and then the eggs were not even ready to be fertilized until 36-48 hours later (day 7 for the sperm). I am sure she is miserable but I would not be worried yet, but in 1-2 more days (67 or 68 on your count) I might get concerned. This is one big plus of progesterone testing, you can pinpoint the ovulation date which really helps to narrow down the due date, thus limits mental stress and missed work! It is not too expensive, about $50-$75 a test and I usually only have to draw for it twice, once at about day 5 or 6 of a season and if the # is headed up I draw again about 2 days later. |
