Yes this is my first litter. She was digging a little earlier today but nothing much... She has not dug at the floor or her stuff in a while. She is wanting out of her whelping room but i am keeping her in here. I am with her as to keeping an eye on her and keeping her away from distractions so that she will go. I hope she goes tonight even if its early in the morning.

Yes, it sounds like she's about to have them. Be sure to immediately take the sacs off of the puppies. You may need a pair of scissors. The sacs are hard to tear with your hands. Give the mom a chance to do the rest.

Don't forget us once the puppies start their arrival! We get excited and impatient too when we don't hear back from you folks that are expecting litters!

It really should be today..well in the am maybe.I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

YEah i have everything i need and also no that it is important to take the sac off. I just wish they were here...LOL She doesnt seem like she wants to be in here though she hears everyone else and wants to get out....but i wont let her. Also her milk is in more then what i had seen before.... Before it was very little and i was beginning to think she would not produce enough now i get double of what i was seeing before.

First, how hard are you pressing against her belly? You should not be feeling for pups. You can easily bust their little puppy heads. She is probably fine. As I said before. Take her temp again. That is how I determine how close my girls are to having the pups.

Hi Starla - Cindy just alerted me and asked me to come to the thread. What day are you?

I have had bitches start digging at their bedding several days prior to whelping and then lose interest.

If she wants out of the whelping room, I would let her out, but follow her around to make sure that she doesn't wiggle under a piece of furniture or in a corner where you couldn't get her out.

I have always "played with the pups" during the last couple weeks of pregnancy. Very gently, of course, but feeling the pups moving is awesome.

Sometimes as they position themselves for delivery they will become "quiet" and sometimes the little ones will move even more.

The big question here is .... How are YOU doing? It sounds like Peyton is progressing normally towards a healthy delivery.

In order to help her, you must remain calm and level headed. You cannot panic or act nervous, if you do, then Peyton will know it.

I agree....let her out if she wants out. If she feels 'pent up', she won't be as relaxed as she should be. Just keep an eye on her. That should be easier for you if she's out anyway...just no jumping, etc. One thing I notice about my girls is they all seem to get glassy-eyed just before delivery but there are no two identical whelpings. With my last litter, Pearl started nesting the night before and woke me up about seven in the morning with that look saying...."it's time". You'll know when she's ready. Just relax and keep things as normal as possible in the meantime. It's better for you and your mom-to-be.
