| Spaying: When is an appropriate time after pregnancy? Hi everyone, Before I start this thread, I again want to thank everyone who helped me get through Chloe's pregnancy, her labor, and the puppies that were born premature. Your kind words and support continue to comfort me today as I still grieve. With that said, I do not want Chloe to have to go through the loss of four puppies all over again. I am 99.9% positive that I want to have her spayed. Of course there is a minute feeling inside that I would love her to have puppies, but I know I must consider her health and well-being over my silly little thoughts of puppies running around the house. Therefore, I want to have her spayed. When is the best time to do it? Chloe birthed the puppies on June 30. I want to ensure that she has plenty of healing time before undergoing any procedure. When would you recommend that I get her spayed? There is no rush as she is not scheduled to go back into heat until November.

| Because of Chloe's size, I feel you have made a wise decision to have her spayed. I would recommend having her spayed mid September or the first of October. This is something that you will really want to discuss with your vet because he may have a better knowledge. I just would not wait too long because sometimes they start having personality changes a couple of weeks before they actually come in heat. Best of luck to you. |

| Okay, I will discuss with my vet. However, I like to get the opinion of the breeders as I know they are more experienced than the vet when it comes to Yorkies! Thank you for the suggestions!

| The best time to spay is midway between seasons when the hormones are at their most stable. As she was pregnant, I'd suggest two months before her next season is due. Your vet can do a blood test to check her hormone levels as a guide to the best time. |

| Jenn, bjh (Barbara) is right, around September would be a good point (before her next cycle) Good luck with her.
