| Preg vs False Preg I have a yorkies that was tied the first day Apr 26th or the last day on April 28. We still have no puppies. My question is what are the symptoms of a false pregancy that might be different than actually being pregant. Basically here temps have been recorded she remains in the 99.4- 99.9 in the morns and then evening back to 100.4-100.8. She gets me up in the mid mornings and want to be in the living room laying down with the whelping back area. She sleeps alot during the day. Her stomach is enlarged like she has had a good meal. I'm about to give up on her having puppies if it doesn't happen this weekend. What are your thoughts? I need some advice.

| Has she gone in for an Xray?At this point that is the best way to tell if .Also you can buy a stethoscope .If she has puppies, you will deffinately hear the really fast heartbeats. Last edited by Cookie2; 07-03-2008 at 02:01 PM. |

| No I didn't do that part. Figured she would have them just fine and didn't need to know how many there were. Now I wish I would have. Maybe its not to late to do that.

You may "feel" one but you seriously need to get her evaluated by a vet. Most yorkies need assistance when delivering pups. You need to have her x-rayed during her last week of gestation to determine if the pups will be able to pass safely. Doc takes measurement of the pup's heads and her pelvic area.

| Well it normally says that once they drop there temp at 98.4 they are in labor and will have whelped puppies between 12-24 hrs.

| it's not too late. It's safer if you have an idea of how many are in there. That way when she whelps you can be waiting for that amount of puppies instead fo being up all night watching her just in case. You can still get an Xray done if your vet's office can schedule you in this weekend .She might just have one in there Did you weigh her at the time she tied and now?.Lola has gained 2 lbs already but the vet could only confirm 2 for sure, not sure about a 3rd. | Lola's temp varies from 100.1 to 99.0 this morning. I freaked a bit when it went down to 98.8 like two days ago but she seems fine. Also I read on a whelphelp.com site that says if their eyes are dilated ,they are in labor. This was the first time that I read that. So even if they are not pregnant their temp varies. But it really doesnt stay at 98. Genie |

| NO Babies, it was a false pregancy. She has all the symptoms except for the enlarged nipples with milk. So we still have to watch her with the other dogs as her hormones are still in the momma mode. I hate it for her she carries around a small stuffed animal and paces the floor with it as she is protecting her young. Its so said, I just hope she gets back to normal before long. So guess we are back to square one and will try again the next heat and see what happens. I have heard others that have had this on her there first preg and ended up a false one. The vet just said to watch put her back on her normal diet and she should go back to her normal hormones. But definately watch her with the other females she might attack them. Thanks for all your help and support. I have had lots concerned about Zoie and it helps to have friends on here that you can discuss with things like this.
