Donating YT 1000 Club Member | weight of the pregnant female i have a question regarding pregnancy.. i have seen a lot of photos on yt of pregnant females and they look big.. you can tell they are pregnant for sure... but they all seem to be smaller dogs... like around 5 lbs... i am wondering if my 7 lb female is pregnant as she looks bigger, but maybe she is not.. as i have been feeding her like she is... does anyone have a photo of their 7 lb bitch at 5-6 weeks along.. she has gained 5 oz since 3 months ago when she was at the vet.. thanks jenny

| Lola was like 6.2 lbs and now is nearly 7 lbs. IS your dog's hair long? I could tell on Lola because her body is shaved down. One thing I did that gave me more confirmation is that I measured her ribcage and her waist. She always had a defined waistline and her belly was sunk in if I carried her.Her normal ribcage girth was 12" -12.5" I measured her like 10 days ago and she was 13"! I measured her this week and she is already 14" inches! She is eating the same amount of food but is putting on weight and belly is growing. I know the suspense is awful. am counting down the days for her Xray in 8 more days! I sure hope that the puppies bones have calcified so they can show up on the xray.I would hate to have to come back in a few days! The vet told me by 45 days,it seems everyone has a different opinion about this including vets and breeders. Can you take any pictures of your dog's abdomen and post them.I know you really cant tell for sure by a picture.Has she shown any symptoms at all? |

| I have seen on YT where owner's females didnt show at all....and still have a Singleton...have also heard them say about having a Singleton after vet saying not preggo....so if i were you In MY OWN OPINION i would just treat her as though she were preg and see....if no pups after 68 days from last tie...then you can probably be sure she is not preg....but alot of people have been fooled with small singletons....good luck....i hope she is preg....take some pics NOW and let us see.....im not a breeder yet but there are alot on here that could maybe help you have a better guess....good luck

i had 3 females in heat back to back, and they clean themselves so thoroughly i never saw much... plus my mom had surgery that week and i was not home a lot..for 2 weeks.. my male was only 6 months so i dont think it was possible.. but i have been treating them like they might be pregnant.. thats why i am thinking it might be just one puppy, possibly.. she does look bigger today.. i will try to get some photos ... thank you.. jenny

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | well thank you for asking.. still the same, lucy and sadie appear to have tight pouch bellies, but the nipples are not changed at all. still not sure i think if they were pregnant, i would see the nipples changing also.. i listened for heartbeats today, nothing... but my stud was only 6 months old.. would this make a difference in the litter size? i didnt think it would be possible for a 6 month old to prove himself.. so it is probably a false alarm.. but they do appear a little bigger today.. but i am 60% sure they are not pregnant.. only 50% sure lucy is not .. after seeing the pregnant photos of other dogs, i say not pregnant, then i hear stories of pregnant dogs not showing with small litters.. lucy would be due july 12th and i am guessing sadie on july 4th... but the nipples should be changing... i just did this last november... you would think i would know... i guess i need to stop obsessing.. and get on with my life.. thanks for listening.. jenny

| It might be a small litter. It is very difficult listening to hearthbeats. I was able to do it today after having her lay on my bed for like 25 minutes . It seemed to take forever and finally I found it. It was very faint but extremely fast. I will wait until she's like 8 weeks to see if I can hear how many different hearthbeats .You might be surprised and see a big change in the last 10 days before she whelps. Lola just popped recently and her belly is just stretching out now.Today I weighed her and she weighs 7 lbs and 8 oz. She was about 6.25 in the very beginning. Genie,Cookie,Lola and Angel |
