Signs that a yorkie is getting close to giving birth?! This is my first Yorkie. She is a Yorkie/Silkie mix and we bred her with a pure-bred yorkie. Can someone help me out? She is acting unusual. She is not discharging, but her mood is different. She is acting more loveable and she has never rested on our laps before and she wants to all the time now. Is this normal? We think she took on November 23rd of last year and it is getting close. We are a busy family and we would like to know when the moment is going to get here. any help would be appreciated!

Is there any moods that should alert me besides her digging in her box? She goes straight to her box and hardly comes out. She is not breathing hard or showing any discharge at all. Sorry if I am asking too many questions, this is my first time with a pregnant dog

Start taking her temp twice a day. It usually drops to 98-99 24 hours prior to whelping. She may also be very uncomfortable, stare at you, dig in her box, or not want to eat, she may also have a clear discharge. When she starts labor dig, she will shake, and pant and lick herself. Thats when you know she is starting hard labor. Keep your eyes open for any distress. If she pushes hard for an hour with no sign of a pup, its time to get ahold of the vet. Good Luck

Any pups yet? Do you have any pups yet? I agree with what others have posted. My mama Muffy had her first litter last year exactly 60 days after the 2nd time we bred her with the male. We're expecting pups again Feb. 26th. I'm so excited!!! Yes, your female should show other signs besides digging. Our Muffy started having contracts that were noticable about 3 hours before delivering. Her tummy would get really hard and she would pant a little bit. I never did the temp thing. Thought it was too gross. lol Let us know when you have puppies and how it went. It's so exciting to be there for the delivery. I can't wait for our 2nd litter!!! lol

not yet:( When I got home for lunch today, she was starting to pant a little bit. She just started today and now she is in my father's hunting shirt, I think that is where she wants to have her pups. She is drinking a lot of water and is acting really strange. We have not taken the temp, she runs when we get the thermometer lol *I guess the visit to the vet wasn't too good* I will post as soon as she has them and will take pics of the mother and her pups
