| Help my mentor is out of town I have been interested in breeding for a while and took some time to buy my Addie. We have a male rescue German Shepherd mix who we rescued as a puppy and he has been neutered his whole life. Addie is on her 2nd heat (we are waiting till her 3rd to breed her). The first time came and went, no problems, no issues. But this time its like my GS got his man parts back. He is whining all the time and has tried humping her a few times. We are really scared that he is going to hurt her and every place we called for to board him is full (memorial day weekend). We have been been putting one in the cage and switching, but the male is still whining like crazy. If I had known this would happen I certainly would not have bought Addie or would have made arrangements to send one away during this time. What else can I do? Why is this happening? Everyone I talked to before hand (even the vet) said if you neuter a male when he is very young they wont try for anything, my mentor even has a golden male that never gave her issues.

| I have heard of neutered males still actually breeding with females but they just can't get them pregnant. I wish I had some encouraging advise but it seems that you will just have to keep them separated for 3 weeks. Because of his size I would worry that he might get too rough with her. Have you tried getting a can with coins in it and shaking the can when he starts bothering her? You might need to ask a professional trainer how to discourage his behavior otherwise you will have to put up with it every time she comes in heat. |

| I'd have them on seperate ends of the house. Might be better if they don't see each other, but the male will still know she's in heat through smell. |
