| I can't take it anymore!!! I cannot take this anymore!!! When can I give Fancy a bath?!?!?!? She stinks so bad! I have washed her off with a warm bath cloth...but it is just not enough! The babies are getting their tails docked and dewclaws removed tomorrow. Please tell me I can do this soon. The vet told me not to bring Fancy in with the pups...how is this going to work? Oh and my vet that I usually go to I called them about getting the babies tails and claws done and they would be 17.00 a puppy and I have 6 puppies..so I called around to another vet that I know is good and they were only 9.00 and my vet said don't bring Fancy with them and can you drop them off early in morning and come get them that afternoon...I was like NO they have to eat!!!!!!! |

| I'm not sure if your girl had a c-section or not but mine didn't and the vet said I could give her a bath at anytime after the puppies were born, just to be sure I rinsed her off really good and didn't leave any soap on her teats. |

| I do give baths to my girls the very next day to rinse all the blood off , I don't ever have a problem , then another bath within the next 3 weeks .....I have the nursery next to my bed , so no stinkers allowed here . I always take my dam to the vet when puppies get their tails / declaws done ( we wait in a separate room and since my vet always gives me the last app, it only takes about 20 minutes and they are done plus no one else is there ) I would ask your vet for the last app. and I would never leave the puppies there ........I would find a new vet. and look around until one agrees with what I want . |

| bitch I allow the pups to nurse and then give mom a bath at day two or three...use the dryer to get her totally dry. It should take a vet about 20 mins to remove the tails and declaws on a litter of 6...I am totally amazed how so many vets are hell bent on stressing and killing puppies. They must learn nothing about breeding and whelping in med school... I am in south Florida if you are anywhere near..I will be happy to help any breeder near me...I have few talents, but proper tail docking and declaw removal is my specialty.. What a talent to have..LOL LOL |

| I live in AL...you are more than welcome to come up here and do that for me and I will pay you...haha! My mom got mad at me when I told her about me taking them to the vet, mainly because I don't have the money. She said you can just do it yourself. But, I am not comfortable with it, so I don't think I should. I have never done that. I think I am going to give my sweet baby a bath tonight then. They are beside my bed also..that is why I just can't take it anymore! |

| HI lady, I dont usually give a bath until pups are a week or so old. I do what I call a minny bath. Just the back area to clean them up so puppies are not rooting in the bad stuff after giving birth or loose stools. But... I make sure to dry them good before letting them back with the babies. I had to give Lacey Bug a minny bath this morning but was carfull not to get the stitches wet. I know everyone has their own opinion but that is what I do. Sue

| Yahtzee had her first litter late evening and I took her to the vet first thing in the morning (about 12 hours from first pup and 8 from last). The vet scoulded me good for not having given her a bath. I now give my momas a bath about 12 hours after whelping BEFORE GOING TO THE VET. I take the moma with me to the vet, as she only charges one office visit, and she can check them all. My main vet is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so I have a Saturday backup vet. We dock tails and remove dew claws ourselves!

| Well, we are back from the vet. They all got tails docked and dewclaws removed. I don't plan on doing this again but if I do I will do it differently. The vet was great! But I had to take all the pups away from mom and be gone about 45-1hr. and I know she is wondering where in the world are my babies. Well, we walk in the door and the pups are crying like crazy and she is going crazy I can't get them back to her fast enough...I have to take them back in 10 days to remove sutures. I have to apply neosporin on the claws and tail 2x daily. |
