However, my mother breed champion Cocker spaniels most of my life and I've had tons of experience with those dogs whelping, have spent uncountable hours bottle feeding puppies round the clock, and feel like I am pretty knowledgable about potential problems in breeding.

I came here to learn as much as possible about the ins and outs of breeding yorkshire terriers. I actually read many, many posts here as a guest before I joined and before I breed my Diva. I have read books, spent hours talking over whether or not I should do it with Diva's breeder and drove my vet crazy in the last year asking him questions.

I did not go into breeding uneducated, and uniformed. This being said, after reading here for a while, I got the feeling that anyone that was not an "experienced breeder", that was not "showing" their dogs, etc., was automatically labeled a backyard breeder. It took me a lot of time to realize the reason behind the way some of the more experienced breeders were coming across. I now understand after reading some of the posts from the "new" people who come here with absolutely no prior breeding knowledge, most of whom did not even know enough about a heat cycle to know when to breed their dog, why the experienced breeders get so upset.

If you've committed your life and heart to breeding these precious dogs and have researched countless hours the ins and outs of breeding, I can see how posts like Olive's would rub your nerves wrong.

I Posted for the first time on here expecting the worst and prepared to be told when I am doing something wrong. I came here to further my education, not be petted and pampered. I have taught school for 14 years and have no problem correcting students for doing things that are dangerous and irresponsible. I understand when an experienced breeder feels the need to tell me when I'm doing something dangerous and irresponsible.

Different people have different ways of telling you things. Some people have really nice ways and others are blunt and to the point.

I don't know how to solve the issues here, but I for one am so glad to be able to come here and get "honest", to the point, advice. To all, I say thank you. To the nicest ones, I say thanks for being kind. To the blunt people, I say, I understand where you are coming from.
Hello I want to welcome you and I do appreciate your thoughts on Breeding.

It is very hard to sit here and want so badly to get the others to at least "TRY" to understand why we ask do this or do that, but others often get offended at us and don't even give us breeders a 2nd chance to try to help them. All I know to do is to try to help and when someone gets hateful with me, don't go back for more. Walk away from it. That's what I've been doing.

Maybe some of us including ME are to blunt, I know I've always have been a straight forward person. And sometimes others take it the wrong way.

It is so hard when U do live and die for your Yorkies as I do...I mean they are my life, my responsibility and I brought them into my life and I will take care of them and put their NEEDS before my own, just as I do my own real children.

See some people don't like honesty, to the point advice. That is why it's hard too. I hope you have fun here at YT and learn and help us here to learn also. Hope U have a great weekend. Lee

Many experienced breeder post less and less because of the constant bitch fest ... 9 times out of 10 the novice will do as they wish not listening to the experienced breeder. Often time you will read the nonbreeder chastising the experienced breeder because of posting in a blantant tone or posting in a unkind manner, then the advice to the OP falls on deaf ears and the breeder appears to be the bad guy....

Please walk in our shoes and feel the frustration and pain breeders go though reading posts like "my girl is 3 lbs and want to have a litter" or "I have a pregnant mom do anytime WHAT DO I DO" or "should I breed my chi to my yorkie" or the best "I want to have one litter because my puppy is so cute" sometimes there is no other way to post but from the heart and FROM EXPERIENCE! I think most try to be kind but the frustration mounts when the nonexperienced breeders involve themself.
Experience is best, your 100 % right and I feel that they should say before they POST that I'm NOT an EXPERIENCED BREEDER of YORKIES...But....Or I HAVE NEVER BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE... I'm just not wanting to cause anymore trouble here and I do in my OPO think EXPERIENCE is the best way to go for giving whelping information.

You are 100% right on this...It gets off subject and then the OP who is needing help doesn't get it...It's sad and can be life threating to a bitch and her litter. Or you get the games going and then can't find when a person needs help.

I know how you feel it's so hard but what can we do??? I don't feel we should be downed all the time for our advice. Just my OPO tho. I hope you have a great weekend. Lee

If members do not want access to the Breeder forum, we can prevent a YorkieTalk account from accessing this particular section. Just PM us and let us know.

If you do NOT want to participate in this forum, that is your choice. However, rude, unhelpful, and negative posts will simply not be tolerated. There are those members that do wish to learn and share when it comes to breeding and wish to participate in this forum.

Breeders have the option of putting their breeding experience in their signature, or when they post, they may discuss their personal experience with breeding. If they are a Donating Member, the breeder may put the link to their Web site in their signature as well.

Again, as we said earlier, this forum is for all the Yorkie mothers and babies that may need help, it is not about YOU or your personal issues with another member. If you want to help, that's great! If not, then fine, do not participate, but making catty remarks, complaining about another member, or just complaining about this particular forum is NOT what this section is for.
