| YTCA Breeders I was wondering how reputable are the YTCA breeders? Are the AKC breeders as reputable? I am wondering as I am considering looking for another yorkie in the near future. Thank you for your time.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Not all yorkie breeders that belong to the AKC belong to the YTCA, but all YTCA members belong to the AKC. The YTCA is the parent club of the AKC and tells the AKC what the standard is. I would want a breeder that belongs to the YTCA, and I believe it would be easier to find an ethical breeder by choosing from their list. They have a code of ethics and conduct as found on this page: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Code of Ethics

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | In that case, I would tell the breeder about my future goals, and perhaps you could find one willing to mentor you.

If you are interested in learning more, first hand, about the AKC standard I would recommend attending conformation dog shows. Keep in mind not all the exhibitors you will see at dog shows will be members in the YTCA. I have personally found conformation dog shows to be very educational. You see the dogs entered, you see who wins and who doesn't and you may even meet a reputable breeder/handler/exhibitor in person willing to answer your questions after the competition. Dog shows are very entertaining and educational...I always have fun when I go!!
