| Does a dog used for breeding make a good pet I was talking to a person who is selling a 3 year old male. I know he's been used for breeding. I am interested in a pet and companion for my 9 month old puppy. I don't know if once a dog has been used as a stud if it changes their temperment. |

| I happened to see a add in the paper for a yorkie/shih mix. I don't want to breed I was just thinking of a companion for my puppy (9 months). We love our Pippin to pieces and wanted another furball to love. Anyway, I called and I have a feeling this is a puppy mill. She doesn't want me to go to see him, she would bring him and the puppies' mom and dad to me. She finally sent me pictures and he doesn't take after a yorkie. When I told her the puppy looked more like the Shih, she said she would sell the dad. Then the more we talked she mentioned she also has a couple of chi's, and a pomerian. The more I talk to her the more I want to run the other way. But there is a part of me that wonders what kind of life the puppy and dad have now. |

| She just called me and I said I wasn't interested. I wouldn't want to help support her if it is a Puppy Mill. I just worry about the little guy; if he's stuck in a cage all day. |

But...a 3 year old stud male would spray in your house I'm sure.

| I think you are very smart to run the other way. I know it can be hard when you think about the poor baby. Why not trying calling the ASPCA or Humane Society in your area to check her out?
