Full Litter Offspring Registration

I noticed on my litter packet I got in the mail today, that this is an option now. It's only $10 a puppy, instead of the normal $20, if the breeder registers the whole litter. I personally like this option, because I can make sure they're registered the way they're supposed to be, and it also saves the new owners some time. What do you guys think about this option?

But then are they registered in your name? Or do you wait until they are all sold and register them in each owner's name? How does that work??

I got those papers with Coco's last litter. I'm undecided. I have one dog that I was not able to name and it really bugs me -- I really dislike her registered name. So I'm not sure I want to do that to someone else. Of course that wouldn't be the case if you were keeping the dog(s).

Do you use a registered kennel name?

I personally liked it when I used it for one litter. I did it because that way, I got to name the puppy and have my kennel name as a refix on each dog's name. A few people were trying to show my puppies and I wanted my name on them. i named them what i wanted to and the new owner called them whatever they wanted to as a call name. But now I think AKC has come up with something that owners can change the name. used to be you couldn't do that. this litter I have now is going to be registered that way mainly because ruight at this point I am thinking of keeping them all.

you cannot register your kenneel name unless you are involved in showing. I tried about a year or so ago before I started showing and this was the info AKC gave me so if you want your name on the puppies, this is the way to do it.

Yes they have, you can change the dogs registered name ONE time if the dog was whelped in the US and has never been bred. I think there's a $25 fee.

If I were looking at a pedigree, how would I know if the name was a "registered" kennel name, or just the way a certain line was named?

You probably won't just be looking at the pedigree but unless it's a show kennel, you can be sure it isn't registered. As I said before, only show kennels can be registered. I know this for a fact straight from the AKC. i called them and tried to register mine.

I always register the puppies individually to my name , when I sell one , I transfer the ownership to the new owner .
