| Troy being a mother i think Troy has lost interest in being a mother. is there a way to make her stay with her pups? i try and make her go back in with the pups but she doesn't sit with them. she'll sit off to the side or outside the box. i'm already feeding 1, i really don't want to add 4 more to it. i don't think i could even if i had too. any suggestions?? help! here she is trying to escape from the whelping box. she looks so pitiful and miserable... she was doing so well...

| If she is used to being with you, you may have to stay right there with her to make sure she stays in with them. Sunshine was like that, so what I did was put her crate (which was her whelping box) inside of a closed expen. I wrapped a blanket around all 4 sides of the expen and held it in place with clothespins at the top. It helped so she couldn't see all of the distractions. I kept the door to her crate opened so she could come out into the expen to eat and potty on a pad. There were times when I had to close the door to her crate to make sure she stayed in there with them. She didn't like it at first, but she would settle down with them after a few minutes. Then when the babies were done eating and were sleeping, I would open the door so she could come out. I would cover the babies lightly with a baby recieving blanket to keep them warm while she was out of the box. I found if I didn't cover them they would wake up and cry because mom wasn'tr in there keeping them warm. You have to watch them closer then so they don't tangle in the blankets. Your's are only a week or so old aren't they? You may have to do this for a bit until they get a little bigger. Hope I helped you some. Good luck Sonya

| yeah shes used to being with me. she doesn't act like anything is wrong and shes not running a fever. her teats are not swollen or anything. she just wants to be with me. right now because she knows shes not where i want her she is under the computer desk back in the back. she thinks i can't see her. and when i move she scoots back so i can't see her. but as soon as i settle down she moves closer to my feet! i think i'm gonna have to enclose her. i had planned on using a playpen once the puppies got older and moving about. guess i'll have to make it sooner. the pups are 13 days. thanks

| I think Troy is being a wonderful mother. Her pups are nearly two weeks old and you cannot expect her to just lay when the pups are sleeping. I keep my mommas in a spare bedroom in an exercise pen but they just bark when then want out and I let them out. They may run around a few minutes or even lay at my feet for awhile but they are very attentive to the babies and as soon as they hear a peep out of the babies the momma lets me know she is ready to go back with the babies. I tell you, they can really wear a person out. I spend the day getting up and down letting the momma in and out. Just make sure the babies don't get too cold or too hot and everyone will be happy. |

They need a break sometimes. They want attention from their human mamas...lol after all the days of just giving all their attention to their pups. Is she going in to feed them, Is she cleaning up after them? If she is dont worry as much K? You have a lil one you're feeding? Hows that going...is it gaining ?

yeah the feeding... i'm not liking it at all. i feel like i just had a baby. i just started after i realized he wasn't gaining enough. he is gaining but only a little. but today he seems to have perked up a bit. more energy. i started him on the beef liver broth and he seems to be more active. he is finally past the others birth weight which were all over 5 oz. so i'll have to keep on and on a tighter schedule to make sure he thrives. i watch him nurse and the others came a long and they just pushed him off. so i've been trying to give him some alone teat time. its just hard for me to sit there...kind of boring. any advice would be much appreciated! thanks

He got to where he wouldnt eat from his mama. He thought I was his mama...lol Hes in my avatar. Hes bigger now almost 3 lbs. And his hair is to the floor. Him and Lea were both bottlefed and very special to me. Keep up the good work
