| Heat Journals... I keep a Journal on my girls and boys when my girls are in Heat, like the day, date and year they start bleeding, flagging, swelling, and how they act. Do any of you breeders out here keep such a journal for U're babies? If so what do you put in yours? Just incase I'm missing something to put in mine. Hugs |

| Once again I am new at this, but my Fancy was just in heat and I put when she started swelling so I knew about how long she stayed swollen before she started bleeding, when I noticed bleeding, then started flagging, and I put the days that I let them mate, and when she started going out. |

I'm not sure all that is necessary but i had never even thought of doing it. I keep my breeding records on all my boys and girls and I can go by that when they are due to come in heat again. Noww, on these two girls I have that are too young, I have one that is almost ready for her second heat at 18 months old. I just kept it in my head when she was in the last time and started counting. I probably should have some sort of system. Then my almost 11 month old girl has not had her first heat so I am just watching these girls very close. i spend the biggest part of every day in with my dogs tho so I can keep track of every move they make almost. | |

| I keep all that information on a calendar. I write down the day the heat started and if I breed them I write that down also. I will write their due dates if they were bred. After they come in heat I count 6 months ahead and write their next approximate next heat due date on the calendar. I write the dates of litter births on the calendar. When I give puppy shots or do flea treatments I write that on the calendar. I keep this calendar on my computer desk for easy reference. At the end of the year I just file the calendar with all my other dog papers. |

| I keep heat and show info on a calender but a journal is a good idea since last years calender accidentally got thrown away. With 6 bitches it might be best not to count on my memory alone.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I always mark my calendar but never kept a journal. That is such a good idea! I may just start.
