| Nutrition Questions for Ginger As some as you know.. Ginger and Oreo sealed the deal on July 9th 2005.. so I should be expecting some cuties down the road in the next few months.. I was wondering.. When should I change Ginger's Diet.. Also is there a certain time I should start giving her supplements like Iron, and stuff like that.. Also anyone have a good breeding website for beginners like myself? I'm excited at the same time nervous.. i've heard that if she gives birth and I touch her babies.. she'll either Hide them or eat them .. can anyone shed some light on this? Also Where can I find a whelping box? or will any good sized box/pen do? and I know I should introduce her to it a week before the babes are due, but how will i know when that is? in 8 weeks i know i should get an x-ray.. but i'm just so excited to hear the pitter patter of puppy paws |

| diet Give her puppy dry kibble and no suppliments..these things are very dangerous. At 5 weeks you can add some extras like cottage cheese..a few bites of American cheese..etc..you can add some canned to the dry, ground chicken/beef..mix well so she eats the dry...feed her 3 small meals a day...After pups add calcuim tabs or TUMS.. I have tried many diets over the years..very complicated, veggies, raw meats, you name it...I have found no difference in health, pups etc then feeding a quality puppy dry like Bil-jac OR Eukanuba. |

| Diet As soon as I know one of my females is pregnant I switch them over to dry puppy food (Puppy Chow and Eukanuba). I use both because when the pups come along they are fed the same food. Some people who buy my pups don't want the expense of Eukanuba, so a year ago I started giving both so their stomachs tolerate both brands. I give the mom, starting at 6 weeks, Old Roy Gourmet (cubed meat) packets (1/2 packet twice a day). The dry puppy food is left out all the time so the mom can eat whenever she wants to. I continue to feed the mom this way until the puppies are born and weaned from her. To make a long story short, feed the mom puppy food.

I am sorry I am not trying to critisize but Ol Roy is one of the crappiest foods out there for dogs. It is sooooo not good. Ol Roy is a really cheap food and made from things that I just dont want to think about. Please consider switching over to something a little better. Deyna, congrats to you on the pups. Keep us posted on how things go. | |
