| Do you know Ilona's Delight Yorkies and Biewer Yorkies a la Pom Pon? Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has heard of Ilona's Delight Yorkies and Biewer Yorkies a la Pom Pon. The contact lady was named Ilona Shanklin and she is located in East Redlands. I found her off breeders.net and spoke to here on the phone today. She seemed like a really genuine lady. She breeds Traditional for about 15 years now and Biewer Yorkies for 4 years. I spoke with her for almost an hour where she told me about her business. She said she's established a Yorkie line of 6 generations over the past 10 years. What struck me at first was that she threw out the term teacup when I told her that I didn't want anything small in fear of possibly losing or having the puppy get hurt. As I continued my conversation with her, she told me her puppies come with a 1 year guarantee but that she stands behind her puppies for a lifetime. He puppies range from $800-$3000, based on their size and appearance. They come with a limited registration and she says that she spends a good amount of money on their diet, making sure that they eat well so they can stay healthy. When I told her about myself and my budget (approx $1000) she told me that she has several dogs that would be in my price range but that the one she feels would best suit me and my needs was her 4-5 lb. boy. She said that she doesn't skim on quality and prides herself in spending the money to make sure the dogs are in good health. That is why she does not sell them for too low. She also mentioned that she had some Yorkinese (Yorkie mixed with Pekingese) that could be in my price range. She suggested that I come visit her (she is about 30 minutes east of me) to see the puppies and see if I fall in love with any of them. All in all, I really liked the way she came off and am definitely considering going to visit her. However, I wanted to find out more input from YT members about this lady if anyone has purchased a dog from her or if anyone has had any experiences with her (namely, negative ones). After my visit with Nikki M, I found that this lady was much more upstanding and more accommodating. She gave me the feeling that she cared not just about the customer but mainly, about the well-being of her dogs to ensure that they are put in a good home. Any and all input would be appreciated. Thank you! |

I do hope this was an opps litter I don't know any breeders personally, who would breed a Yorkshire Terrier to a Pekingese.. or any other breed for that matter. Best Wishes in finding your perfect forever pup.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Ilona is involved in several rescue groups. I do not believe Ilona has any breeds other than Biewers, Yorkies and I think there are a few German Shepherds protecting her property. To imply that she is breeding mixed dogs is wrong and unfair. If she has any mixed dogs, they would be her rescue dogs..... Feel free to PM me or call me for further information. |

| I have spoken with her on the phone and I liked her. If you are only 30 minutes away I would go take a look. No harm in doing that. Go with your gut when you get there. If you like her and her dogs and the way she cares for them , mabey she'll have the right pup for you. If you don't have a good feeling there are other breeders. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Well maybe the price the girl was looking to spend was "rescue" fees. And again there appears to be some implication of someone not doing the "right" thing. Ilona spends her own money taking these rescues to the vet and caring for them and finding them proper homes. I know this for a fact and again if anyone wants to talk-- PM me. And Poochi if you're only 30 minutes away, come by and meet Team Furry too. |

| Hi Jan, I know this is not something you wanted to hear but Ilona does not raise mixed breeds and I'm sure that 2 months after her initial post, she has found a puppy, so your point was? With all due respect, rescues can vary in cost. Some are local families that don't want to turn the dog/puppy over to a shelter, so Ilona will assist them in placing their dog. Thank you Dee, Amanda and Jean for trying to help Jan understand about Ilona's involvement with dogs in need, regardless of the breed. |

| Ilona's Delights Hi Jan, I have never met Ilona, but I have spoken to her many times over the past year and have admired and appreciated her expertise/knowledge in the breed of yorkies and biewers. She has given me so much advice. I came across her thru a referral from another breeder in another state. I have been a pom breeder for over 6 years, but someone broke into my home and stole all my babies. Unfortunately, the police were of no help and ruined my case by informing my suspect. Anyways, it's been over a year and although it's hard to forget my pom babies, I'm ready to adopt both yorkies and biewers and have learned so much from Ilona and hope to learn more. She is the Vice President of Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc. and she always strives to better the breed of yorkies and biewers. She is a very reputable breeder and works with novices without hesitation. Keep in mind that rescue dogs cost money too for food, shelter, medication etc. and even animal shelters ask for "adoption fees" to help offset costs. There's also a better chance that the "customer" would take care of the animal if it cost them some money as oppose if they got it for free. Poochi, I would highly recommend that you go see her. I totally agree with you ,rescues should be free ,they should be fixed and have their teeth cleaned and happily move into a qualified forever home.I spend at least $4000 a year to make that a reality. How much do you donate? | |

Pruett, Scrapindee, JeanieF and myself were defending Ilona from Jan's accusations. DelightYorkies is Ilona...defending herself. Do you have an issue with newbies? | |

| Just like so many Biewer Breeders that have never bred before, you have to start some where, right Diana? |
