Where do you start? How do you do it?

If anyone could walk me through step by step it would be great.

I have had pups shipped to me..I know they have to be checked by the vet before they fly out, and you have to have a certain size crate..I'm sure if you call the airline, they will tell you what all you need...

Do a search for shiping animals- the airline sites have links to it- I think - You can contact the airlines by email or by phone! Most have it under the CARGO- section!
Unless you are flying w/ it and take it on

I haven't shipped in years, but when I did it went fine. Make sure your pup is eating good and has not had and low blood sugar problems. I like to wait until they are about 12 wks. You will need a health cert form your vet and that lasts for 10 days. The kennel I used was a cat sized kennel. Enough room so they can stand , sit and turn around. The kennel will need to have food and water hanging on the door. The kennel will have to be marked with a live animal sticker, or I have seen people just write in on the kennel with a big black marker. I put a towel on the bottom of the kennel and then a piddle pad over it ( but not if they like to shred them)some do and some will leave them alone. You can also shred newspaper and fill the kennel. Bring extra because your pup might throw up or poop on the way to the airport. Bring baby wipe too just in case. I like to put a toy or stuffed toy from home that they like. Do not worm or give shots around the time they are going to be shipped because that can cause extra stress. Call the different airlines to see which one has the most direct flights to where the pup is going. All the airlines have info on the internet for shipping live animals. Tape some food on the top of kennel so the buyers will be able to feed the same food the pup has been on. I would also tape some nutrical( for low blood sugar and energy) on the top and tell the buyers to give the pup a pea sized lick when they pick it up. Also have the buyers bring some bottled water to offer the pup incase the bowl is empty or spilled. Lots of rest for the pup and tell them not to bring it all over to show everybody until he/she is settled in and eating good. Before the pup gets shipped have the pup spend some short periods of time in the kennel so they get used to it before they go.

You can call Delta Pets 1-888-736-3738. They are more than happy to answer questions.
The crate has to be an airline approved, which most crates say that on the label. Crate has to be certain size for the dog to be comfortable, but not big enough to stir up a ruckus!

The top has to be solid and the door must be metal. A food and water dish must be securely attached inside. They want an asorbent material for bedding, no toys (they say). A little bag of food must be attached to the top of the crate. Live animal stickers all sides of the crate. A shipping label with last feeding and age of the animal and much more info is usually provided and you fill out. Phone numbers of you and the new family.
I would say get a non-stop flight leaving early morning if possible.
Health certificate from your vet no more than 10 days old. Rabies certificate if puppy is over 12 weeks.
I would not recommend sending the registration papers with the puppy on the airline.
Call for registration a few days ahead and the weather is a HUGE factor. Too cold, they don't go. Too hot, they don't go.

I got Sampson flown to me, and he was on AA they were great with him, and he did have to change planes, but he got here happy and playing, I know they gave him nutra cal before leaving alot, and put some kyro in his water for the flight, if I can help or tell you how and what we did, pm me and I will give you my # or Cindy has it

My little guy just came in this evening!! The breeder I got him from shipped with American Airlines.. He had a toy, food, water, blankie, and baggie of food with him.. When I opened his crate, he came bounding out and giving us all attention and playing with my girls!

Best experience I've had thus far!

This makes it sound a little better to me! So how do you go abou tthe contract? How does the buyer go about paying you? I would love to know as much as i can! You would think they would spill out their water and food with all the movement.

You can email your contract to prospective buyers and have them print out a copy for themselves and sign and send you one with payment. And you can also do Paypal for payment. My advice would be no personal checks and make sure whatever funds you do accept clear before you send the puppy.
There are all sorts of payment scams around.
I usually take and punch a hole in those tiny cups that come with the pet taxi (airline approved) up high on the thing and tie it in with a plastic zip tie.
It is my understanding that you do not put food or water in the cups...........although I cheat sometimes!LOL and if you have the shredded paper, it is all absorbed hopefully.
