YT 1000 Club Member | Question about debbiejensen.com I was wondering why there is a double standard for yorkies and shih tzus... I mean everyone refers http://debbiejensen.com but then she is breeding imperials. Isn't it like listening to a person that breeds teacup yorkies? Just a different breed but the concept is the same. I know she gives good information but if someone said they breed teacup yorkies and have good information you will still stay away from the site. I know, Dumb question. But I would like to know why it's ok with another breed but not Yorkies. (I'm not trying to offend anyone just trying to get more information and their opinions on the situation) |

| The information that Debbie is giving is just basic information for breeding, birthing, etc. It applies to all kinds of breeds....except maybe English Bulldogs who just about have to have a cesaren section everytime because of the puppies large heads. When reading, if it bothers you, just insert Yorkie or Yorkshire terrier instead of Imperial Shih Tzuhs and the information will then apply to your breed. |

| Honestly I've never thought about that...I really don't pay attention to her as a breeder, but she DOES have excellent information. If someone had a "teacup" yorkie site and had that much info I'd still look at it... |

| This quote also threw me for a loop.. Chinese Imperial and many Shih Tzu breeders feel the origional smaller version is the highly prized dog Many people refer to them as Tea Cup but that is not a correct term for a Shih Tzu. This term teacup is a poodle or yorkie term. And so did this one.. We breeders of Imperial Shih tzu specialize in breeding the smaller sized dog which are often called the Chinese Imperial, Imperial Shih Tzu and incorrectly termed as a Toy Shih Tzu, Miniature Shih Tzu, Teacup Shih Tzu, or Pocket Puppies. No matter how you butter it up to sound good...it DOSENT... |

| Good Question OP, Unless they're a different AKC category in the breed, you're right about the teacup and imperial term. Though I don't know the breed, or have a clue about them. |

| I only know about the yorkie breed because that is what I show and breed and if I did the other breed if the word is referenced like teacup in the yorkie breed it shouldn't be done in s**tz zu's either plain and simple! Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

| Yes Imperial in the shih tzu world is JUST like using teacup in the yorkie world..a huge selling ploy..they breed them down and "say" that it will soon be recognized by the AKA..but they are not acceptable at this point..I did alot of research on the shih tzu breed in the past and this was always a big no no for reputable breeders..and I was warned to stay away from "imperial" shih tzu breeders.. |

YT 1000 Club Member | LOL... I'm surprise I got little (but great!) feedback on this... So many 'respected' breeders refer the site but no one wants to explain their reason about why they refer a site that was based on creating tinies.... I hope it is referred less now. |
