| Has anyone heard of Moon Valley Kennels in TN. I'm thinking of purchasing a puppy from Betty Womack. Any references would be appreciated. Thank you - Chris |

| I took a look at their website and have a few concerns. http://www.ayorkieisforever.com/ They seem to sell many different categories of puppies when a reputable breeder only sells one - the best puppy they can produce. They sell what they call "standard" Yorkies between 5-10 lbs. The Yorkie standard is no more than seven pounds so they are not breeding to the standard. That is a huge red flag. Also, they offer two types of stud service, one for pet quality. Pet quality dogs should be loved and treasured, but should not be bred by a breeder who respects the breed and wants to protect it's health, appearance and disposition. |

| Seems to me like they make USE other reputable breeders names to make more $$$$$$$$$$ for themselves. How sad. I wonder what the lines with no champions dogs look like??? I would keep looking. |

YT Addict | I was going to reply with the same comment about standard size "5-10lbs"... I find that many breeders who throw pups outside of the AKC standard will change breed descriptions as well.

| My name is Rachel - I am Betty Womack's daughter, and I do NOT appreciate the way you are talking about her on here. She is a very responsible breeder, and has been for the past 15 .. almost 16 years. Every puppy is sold with the agreement that it is to be spayed/neutered, and it doesn't matter if it is "pet quality" or if it has champion lines in it. Breeding rights are not given out under any circumstance. You people are talking like she is a puppy mill or something which she is far from. You should be ashamed of yourselves for even assuming something like that when you have no idea what her kennel is like or if you've never even talked to her before. AKC has inspected our kennel every year for the past 5 or 6 years without one fault or imperfection. Her Yorkies are housed in a very expensive, air conditioned, advanced kennel system. These dogs live better than that of a lot of people. As for these red flags you speak of -- my mom didn't design and write her website. She barely knows how to open her email. My husband and I design, write and maintain the website and blog, so whatever is written on the website is solely our responsibility. If any of you have qualms or want to make assumed judgements against my mother, please email me first before making it public and ruining my her hard earned reputation. Thank you.

| I do not know your mother nor have I visited her kennel but I feel when a website if posted for public viewing it is also under scrutiny, and people have a right to post their concerns when asked for an opinion. If there was misleading information put on the site by you and your husband then maybe your mom should write down the correct information before you post it so it dosent throw up red flags. I do not see where ANYONE called your mother's kennel a puppymill in any way shape or form. It was pointed out that the standard was up to 7 pounds and the standard written on her website is up to 10 pounds...which is not standard..so in fact that isnt bashing its only stating a fact...that is not breed standard. A red flag dosent label her as a puppymill it is only questioning discrepencies on the website. Im sure your mom loves her dogs very much..again I have never been to her kennel..I am only reading a public website and also again when something is out there for the public to read then the public has a right to talk about it...the positive or the negative.. | I also saw that she prices the puppies based on size (has two categories) she says standard and small. Wouldn't that be another concern?

| Um... why does the website say the pups are raised in the house yet you openly admit you use a kennel to house them? and, no I never once saw somebody accusing your mother of being a puppymill.

| Her website though is representing her, and wouldn't she tell you and your hubby what to write on the website? No one is trying to bash your mom, but please understand that there are so many unreputable breeders out there that most of us on YT are VERY cautious of any breeder. No one is trying to personally attack your mom, just voicing their thoughts and concerns to the OP.

| Has anyone heard of I have been lurking and enjoying reading posts on this website for over three weeks and have not posted yet but I must reply to this one. I purchased a precious male yorkie from Betty the first of November and have been more than pleased. I am the Practice Manager at a vets office in Knoxville and done a lot of research before deciding where to buy a puppy. I already own one Yorkie so know a little about the breed. I got her name from the Tennessee Valley Kennel club as a recommended breeder. I have worked in the vet business for 11 years and believe me I have seen it all. She was very helpful on the phone when I called. Did not tell me what she had to offer but asked what I wanted in a puppy. I made an appointment and went to her place. She did not hesitate to take me into her kennel and let me look at and play with the puppies so I could make a choice. She appears to love all her dogs and they were all very clean and well taken care of. I have recommended her to several of our clients and in fact my puppy's brother was in our clinic today to be neutered. The original poster asked for a reference and a reference is usually given by someone who has had first-hand experience with the person. |

If you reread our posts, they were based entirely on the impression we got of your mother's breeding program from her website. No one even mentioned the word "puppymill" in this thread except you. | |
