Need help with fading pup Well the lady with the pups called me this morning, The two the breeder is caring for is doing good, fat and healthy, She has another momma dog she can put them on when needed, The two the lady is caring for is going down hill, skinny . She woke up this morning to one fading pup cold and stiff mouth open, she tried to feed him, I told her she should never feed a cold pup, she needs to warm him first . well shes bring them both to me in hopes that I can bring the male around, But Im so afraid its to late, I told her Id do what I can but sense she already forced him to eat and he was cold it could of got in his lungs and if it did he could have or get pneumonia, I aske dif he was dehydrated but she didnt know I told her how to lift the skin on the back of his neck to check. I really dont think shes feeding them as often as they need, theres a big difference in the ones the breeders caring for and the ones shes caring for. Her best choice would be to trade off on the pups putting the weaker ones with The breeder and her taking on the stronger bigger ones. I told her to put a little karo syrup on their tongues or feed a little sugar water if they are warm. She didnt even know to burp the babys, so I guess Im gonna try and take them in and see if I can help. Is there any thing else I can do to help these pups?

If you have some pedialyte, you could tube feed it (recommended) or bottle. Pedialyte will help if it's dehydrated of course.... There's also liver juice... it's a sticky in this forum. It works sometimes, if that's what the puppy is in specific need of. It's certainly worth a try.

When I had a weak one I fed every 2 hours night and day and added Karo syrup and baby rice cereal to the milk replacer. I think it is extremely important to have frequent feedings. I think it is great that you are willing to help like this, I know it's not easy and very stressful but sooo rewarding. Best wishes to you and the pups.

I think Kimberly King posted something on here awhile back about boiling beef liver, straining it and giving it to fading puppies. not sure tho. pm her and ask. You are a real sweetheart for trying to save these babies. Wonder if they need to be on Iv's at the vet office?

Thanks guys for all the prayers and info. Me and Hubby have been feeding them every two hours and they are keeping warm now. also been giving the smaller one a drop of Nutri-drops every feeding just a small drop that I rub on the gums. and giving the bigger girl one drop 2 x a day. I just weighed them the girl is 13 3/4 and the boy is 12 3/4 that was the first time they have been weighed and it was right after they both ate and went potty. is that a good weight for 3 weeks old pups? they just turned 3 weeks today. I am so in love with them already if they make it and I pray that they do, its going to be a sad day when they go back home. The Breeder who took the other two in is keeping one because she used her stud for the mating and shes buying the other one, both females. I think the lady who owns them is keeping one and that leaves one. I dont know if she has this other one already sold or what, but Im sure gonna ask her. They was hungry when they got here, she said she already feed the bigger one before she got here but not the smaller weak one, Now I would of feed the weakest one first. so anyways the little girl is a big and drinks hers streaight down I have to pull it out to burp her and boy does she get mad lol. The little boy was very hungry he ate good too, finished off each feeding good for me so far. she told me she said I know Im bad but I dont pee them every time. eeek. I told her thats a must. well Im just happy to help them and I cant help but fall in love with those little sweet faces. will share pictures later. I dont want to handle them to much.

| thats great weights for their age, that is a good sign, I am sure with your extra care they should begin to thrive, providing they have no health/genetic issues. bless you for taking them in and your diligence keep us posted
