Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Welcome! You should not breed before 18 months or more and then a complete check up should be done to see if the girl is large enough to breed. They may weigh enough but have a small repoductive system and only a vet can tell. My Chelsey was to small even at over 4 lbs. To breed her would have put her life at risk so we had her fixed.

| Brreding should be done until at least 18 months old. Aside from being emotionally and physically ready to breed, it will be at least until then before you know if she even should be bred. You cannot tell aat 3 months if the dog will possess qualities as an adult that should be passed on to future generations--even if the parents were perfect representations of the breed. Her size is important--I personally would never breed a female under 5 pounds to err on the side of caution. In addition, her size is only have of what you have to consider--the size of the dogs in her line is equally as important. |
