| Molly is adorable. How big is she? She looks tiny. Does your puppy appear to be acting normal and healthy? A 5 week old puppy should be running around a lot. Does the mother still have milk? I alway just leave a small bowl or ground up dry food with the puppies at that age and fresh water. They should be able to free feed on the dry food. Are you giving the puppy a milk replacement for puppies? Of course it would be better if the pup could nurse from the mom about 4 times a day. What kind of dry food is she eating? I wish I could be of more help but I have never had a mom loose interest a baby that young. |

| Hello, The vet told use that they will both lose interest in the nursing, with Molly getting teeth and all, Muffy (mother) soon will not let her at all, I just meant that she doesn't nurse like she use to and we have been giving her milk and pedigree puppy food (she is on the moist can puppy food, not dry yet, teeth are just coming in), she loves both.we were just not sure how much and how often to feed. as for the running around, as soon as she wakes up she is ready to go, when she runs she is so funny, she looks like she is hopping, when they play together the mother seems like she is playing too rough(but she isn't) and Molly just keeps after her, does not back down from her at all, she keeps right in there. It is so nice to have your own babies and be able to watch all the new things they do, like your childs 1st steps, we are lucky to even have Molly, she lost her sibling and they worked about 10 minutes to save Molly, but she made it and is doing great.

| It sounds like your little Molly is doing great. I recommend you get a good quality dry food like Canidae or Solid Gold Wee Bits. Just grind it in a blender dry and leave it out at all times. Twice a day I give mine a little canned Pedigree Lamb and Rice mixed with a little of the ground dry food. My puppies always have food available at all times. You are so correct about puppies being so rewarding. Good luck with your Molly. |
