| Is this inbred?? I heard someone talking about a breeder, and they said that this breeder, along with many otherrs, will breed the dad with his girl.. Can you do this? She said that nothing was wrong with it.... She said that if you do breed the mom with the son then there would be problems?? Could someone please clarify this for me. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I think that is what they call linebreeding. You can breed father to daughter and not son to mother. When you breed the dad to the daughter under very controlled situation it works because the daughter only has one half of her genes from the father. Not sure about all the intracies but look up linebreeding.

| There is no difference between breeding the father to the daughter than to breeding the mother to the son. Both are considered in-breeding. There is no problem doing this on occasion but you must be very sure the backgrounds of the dogs to be used for this as the this will concentrate the genes. If you dogs have hereditary problems then it is more likely that a greater number of the offspring from this type of breeding will have it. It isn't a type of breeding I would recommend unless you are very familiar with the line of dogs you are using. It does not create problems but brings out any problems that is found in a line. In-breeding is the breeding of closely related individuals such as, father to daughter, mother to Son, sister to brother. Line breeding is breeding on a common ancestor such as geat grandsire to great grand daughter. If you find a common sire or dam in your Yorkie's pedigree (such as in the 1st, 4 th and 6th generation) your Yorkie is line breed. Charlie |
