| Milk Production In Yorkies/Dogs Lily only has one pup that is 4 days old now. She only will feed off of two of her teets though, one on each side. I was wondering if all of her others will "dry up" or if the pup continues to feed only on these the others will continue to produce as well?

| You want to watch the other teats for becoming engorged. If they do you should be sure she empties them. I've never had a singleton, couldn't help you there sorry... |

| The unused teats will dry up but you have to watch out for engorgement in the mean time. If she seems uncomfortable put a warm rag on the teat for a few minutes than gently extract a little milk to relieve her. Alternating warm and cold packs can also help relieve engorment. Do not stimulate the teats more than absolutely necessary as this will encourage milk production.

| Hello...my Diva had a singleton also. I noticed that Duchess preferred 2 of her teats over the others so I would make sure I put her on a couple of the others....especially during the first couple of weeks because all of her teats were so full. Luckily, Diva never really had a problem with engorement but as the pup started to wean, I allowed the others to slowly dry up and made sure I had a warm cloth ready for Diva for any discomfort but she did very well on her own. Just keep an eye on them. Good Luck to you! Singleton's are fun!!! Mine is 10 weeks today!

| I have been putting the pup on two of the other teats that look pretty full. The pup most definetely preferrs two of the other one's, but if I bring the pup to one of the other teats when she is hungry she will eventually latch on! It's so cute how she uses her paws to knead over the sides of the teat to stimulate getting more milk out. It's amazing how these little guys know what to do to survive!
