| Morning sickness?? Originally I had posted the following in the "sick and injured" forum.... I have a 4 year old female yorkie. She is possibly pregnant, if so its only a few weeks. A week ago I took her to the vet due to an ear infection. For the past few days she will not eat her puppy food (due to the possible pregnancy I am feeding her puppy food). But when I say TREAT, she wants one. So, she has been throwing up yellow (bile). I have been feeding her a little deli sliced turkey with her puppy food wrapped up in it and she would gobble the turkey up. What do you think is wrong? I just tried to put some maple surup on her puppy food and she wouldnt have anything to do with that, so I poured a little chicken broth on her puppy food and she licked that right up! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tiffany Update... I just went to the grocery store and got: deli sliced chicken wet canned dog food (chicken with gravy) white rice I mixed her puppy food with the wet canned dog food and she just licked the gravy and didnt care about the puppy food or the chicken that came in the canned food! So I took the deli chicken and she gobbled that right up. Havent tried the white rice yet. (tried it and she didnt want anything to do with it) Ok so here is the new updated information, which is why I changed forums: I took Suzy to the vet and they were going to give her an xray, so I went to wait in the waiting room and a few minutes the vet came back out with her and said that 4 vets had gotten together real quick in the back and he told them why she was there, and they all felt of her and said that they felt 3 puppies and that they all agreed that she must have morning sickness (well not just in the morning, its been like this for almost 2 weeks!!). She will not eat anything but deli sliced turkey or chicken, cottage cheese and tomatoes (but not the seeds in the tomatoes!)... how finikey! This will be her 3rd pregnancy and she has never acted like this before! The vet said to just try a little of everything to try to get her to eat. So I have tried canned tuna, yogurt, and she wont have anything to do with it! Amazing! So wondering if any of you breeders out there have experienced this with any of your females? If so, any suggestions on what else I can try to feed her? How long will this last? Any signs to look for? I am worried she is not getting enough nutrients for her and her babies. The vet said not to worry, but I cant help it! She's my little baby! Thanks in advance for all of the advice and comments TIffany |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | My female Lexie had a litter of pups on October 14. I believe it was about a week or so after returning from the stud's home, she had the same symptoms you decribed....morning sickness. Didn't eat much of anything and throwing up, well nothing, since she wasn't eating much. Of course I was concerned about her not eating and tried whatever would work to get her to eat a little as you are doing. Morning sickness lasted about a week or so. When she did get her appetite back, she began eating ALOT more and she had 4 healthy babies 7 weeks later. Congratulations on your females pregnancy and good luck. Keep us posted on her progress

| Bella also had morning sickness. About 2 weeks into her pregnancy she was throwing up the yellow bile about 5 times a day and was off her feed for a bit so i switched her to a high quality canned puppy food and she ate that up with no problems! so you could try that to get her back on her feed and good luck with her pregnancy! they are so much fun! bella just had her litter 12-9-07 and they are doing awesome
