Default Help me with this please.

I need to find my baby a stud. Yet don't know where to look. My vet is not a good option. Since he is great with dogs yet not so great with people. I love my Jolie and would hate to breed her with a stud that is not worthy of her or to big. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to say welcome to YT!

Any pics of Jolie?

How old is she, what does she weigh? That may be some of the things others will ask for stud service.

Welcome to YT. Maybe one of the breeders on here can help you out.

My suggestion would be to take your gal to a local dog show and take a look at the dogs showing. The studs there will have been tested and evaluated and are worthy of reproducing. It's also a good place to get your gal evaluated to see if she is a good candidate for motherhood. Do as much reading as you can and see if you can find a mentor. Irresponsible breeding has really taken a toll on our breed, please don't add to the problem. Be prepared and only breed the best, our breed deserves no less. You might want to cultivate a special relationship with your vet as well, people person or not.

Here's the link to Infodog which has all the listings for shows by state:

http://www.infodog.com/showinfo/state.htm

Hopefully you can find someone to mentor you and help you become a responsible breeder.

tami, i have a question. i tried to take my coco to the dog show here in va beach last just a few weeks ago and they would not let her in. they would only let the show dogs in. how do you get your dogs into the show?? also, most of the handlers are so busy that i feel they don't have time to speak with me.

It is an AKC rule that no entered dogs are allowed on the show site. However, it is dependent on the show as to how strictly it is enforced. Yes, handler's and judges are busy. It is probably best, once inside to find where yorkie exhibitors have their grooming tables set up. Wait until after the yorkies have competed, then approach them for assistance.

I looked at that site but can't understand the abbreviations that tell what kind of show it is. Which is for conformation? None of the listings had anything that would tell a novice like myself that it is conformation. That is what I am looking for. Thanks

You're looking for the abbreviation AB for all breed or S for specialty.

Hey Lisa, If you want to come to the show at the Va. Beach Pavilion on Dec. 15 & 16th just let me know. A bunch of us will be showing and if you give me a call you can come in with the exhibitors as my assistant. I talk to a ton of people after I show, it's my favorite thing to do.
