| Late Heat I plan to eventually spay Cozy but have not done so yet. I am well aware that the pros of spaying overall outweigh the cons but can't bring myself to do it yet. Anyway. Cozy should have gone into heat in mid-Oct. but has not gone into heat yet. Is this normal? She had her first heat at 6 months (Oct. 2006) and her second heat at 1 year (April 2007). She was born April Fools Day 2006. Her first 2 heats you could see she was in heat. Vulva swollen, hard nipple, increased appetiate, decrease in overall activity, and a visible/heavy blood flow for roughly 1 week (I put a diaper on her which was changed before she went outside to go pee or poop- Which is way I know about her flow amount). I am only so anal about her heat because I have a lot of male dogs in my neighborhood all bigger than her. For the most part she is only outside with humans or my golden retriever (neutered) but every so often she gets outside when my grandfather opens the door and he does not see her go out. I have an invisible fence system so she can't get out but others can get in. Based on her history is it possible she went into heat and I don't know about it? Someone is with the dogs pretty much 24/7. I don't think she went into heat (I have a white bedspread on my bed which she sleeps on every night- 0 discharge noted) but am not sure. Could it be late?
